datsunfreak
I think those screws are going to put up a fight. Never have for me, even on rusty cars, but ymmv... Good news is that they are cheap and easy to get if you fuck it up... 1 Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
The radiator is out. It never leaked, so there is a nasty, rusty mess underneath it. Frame rails and radiator support is getting the POR 15 treatment. The rest of the engine compartment gets the same bright yellow (like the new Corvette/Camaro) paint as the rest of the car. Nasty stuff below the radiator. Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
If you look at this photo and think "This guy doesn't have a fucking clue about wiring.", then you would be 100% correct. I had to start the removal of the wiring harness under the hood to remove the nastiness on the frame rails. I am trying to make the process as simple as possible. The upper alternator connection is #1. The screw connection with 2 wires is #2. 1 Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
You have the luxury of taking things apart first before putting them back together. My project 1200 was given to me in pieces, so I have no such luxury :sneaky: 1 Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
The front passenger floor is prepped for the POR 15 seam sealer and seal coating. POR 15 seam sealer done on the front passenger's compartment. First attempt is not really smooth, but got total coverage on the seam. 1 Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
Another shipment of POR 15 and the POR 15 seam sealer. The seam sealer tube and application nozzle clean up after every use is a pain in the ass. But if you don't, then it will dry up rock hard and be ruined. Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
Ran out of the POR 15 starter kit supplies. Restocked the supplies and starting to kick the rust in the ass. POR 15 Metal Prep. Rust lurking under the seam sealer at the radiator support/left inner fender seam. 1 Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
Cleaned around the rust out holes on the bottom of the floor pan. By doing this, I won't screw up the upper repair when I finally get around to sealing the bottom of the pan. Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
If you use POR 15, make sure after use the top of the can and lid is thoroughly with solvent. If you don't, the lid will weld itself shut and you will wind up with this. Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
Labeling and disassembling the wiring harness under the hood. Hopefully this will help me remember how it all goes back together. Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
After a review of Duncan's 71 "Oz" Goon thread, Datsunfreak advised Duncan to remove the front valance by drilling through the spot welds and re-attaching the front valance using stainless steel hardware. The front valance was hiding a whole lot of nastiness and I am glad I took the advice. 2 Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
My fight against rust is best summarized by a Forrest Gump quote. “That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d just run across Greenbow County. And I figured, since I run this far, maybe I’d just run across the great state of Alabama. And that’s what I did. I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on going. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I’d gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on going. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I’d gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on going.” I am one sick Ratson. 2 Quote Link to comment
