]2eDeYe Posted July 22, 2013 Report Share Posted July 22, 2013 these are some recent shots from traffic in Cuba. when the US embargo hit circa 1961 the flow of American stopped but the Cubans so loved their American cars that they have kept them on the road for 50+ years. With no access to new US parts, los Cubanos took to adapting parts from imported Soviet cars as well as breaking into Cuban army motorpools to steal parts from Soviet supplied military vehicles for adaptation. Can you imagine being so dedicated to your vehicle for decades......? yup. me too :rofl: ! There is a documentary on Netflix about the mechanics and guys that keep these things on the road. I like VW's and Datsuns any way Well after doin some "research" I just learned that VW, Volvo, Datsun/Nissan and Mercedes-Benz were all built in the same factory for a while in Australia.
