these are some recent shots from traffic in Cuba. when the US embargo hit circa 1961 the flow of American stopped but the Cubans so loved their American cars that they have kept them on the road for 50+ years. With no access to new US parts, los Cubanos took to adapting parts from imported Soviet cars as well as breaking into Cuban army motorpools to steal parts from Soviet supplied military vehicles for adaptation. Can you imagine being so dedicated to your vehicle for decades......? yup. me too  !

There is a documentary on Netflix about the mechanics and guys that keep these things on the road. Great story about some good people making due with what they got.

ha, the trim guy is amazing, but how about the guy that that makes the clutch discs and brake pads from asbestos with his bare hands!!!. or the guy that makes windshields out of old glass!. that movie was absolutely incredible.

then theres the old Jeremy Clarksons World, or Top Gear where he, (Clarkson) shows you how they make Brake fluid, amazing.

Datsun's rule (practicality & simplicity!) but my FAVORITE CAR of ALL TIME would be a customized 57/58 Ford....

Datsun and VW were built in the same factory?? Seriously?  I did not know that one LOL.  I like VW's and Datsuns any way

Well after doin some "research" I just learned that VW, Volvo, Datsun/Nissan and Mercedes-Benz were all built in the same factory for a while in Australia.  Interesting!!
