The "Plan:"

Stripped the above apart when new blood was found. This isn't exactly what she looked like when I got her. Wish I had taken truly "BEFORE" pics, but oh well. Here, I had already stripped the elephant mirrors and a bug deflector. It also had 15" white Wagon wheels in the back.

As she sits now. Daily driven going on 3yrs. now.

Big plans for '09. She will always be orange.

Purchased in Sept. '08 in Pendleton from the original owner. Had been sitting in a field next to her house since her daughter-in-law blew a head gasket in 1982 or 1983. Had been home to generations of rodents. The driver's floor was rusted out and the poor repaint was sun bleached white. Obviously, much has been done and I had a LOT of help from my brother.

and after some serious tear down and rebuild time, even had to re-engineer the swap as the word ghettoriffic was and understatement as to how the PO did it, i won't even go into how he did the rear disc brake swap:eek::eek:, let's just say i had to rape my old 4 door for it's trailing arms to re-do the brake swap correctly.

I rolled all my fender lips hammer and dolly style.

Front mock up...(this is with the hardbody drop spindles. Never got a good shot of just the front clearance before the teardown)

Rear...axle kissing the frame

1/4" spacers to clear the nubs for the 77, clearanced hubs with the hardbody stuff.

I never once hit the lips on the 77, I did rub the front strut rod (or whatever it's called) at full lock. Not bad though :)

Here is my truck when it was new in 1973.

I drove it all through the '90s with no grill, bumper, pan, turn signals or license plate. The windshield valance was missing, the fenders were beat and the hood had more rust than paint. It was pretty scary looking. Wish I had some pics. I used to come up to four way arterial stop signs and even if I didn't have the right of way, people in nice cars would wave me ahead. They took a look at the Datusn and thought... drunk with no insurance!

Here I am in Portland, '06 driving to my shop.
