]2eDeYe
Make sure you grease the new cover. It is the ways for the throw-out bearing. Looks like there wasn't any lube and the friction was pulling the cover around when you used the clutch. That's a nice bead. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Agreed pretty nice. Still room for improvement, but you are definitely on the right track. My only critique is that is seems to be sitting a little high. 3 Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
Get a piece of steel, write your name in cursive til it's perfect, that's how they teach it in Industrial schools back in my native land, Argentina, it's fun and gratifying too :) That weld does look solid, good job. 1 Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
Thanks guys! Definitely going to keep working on it, watch a video or two maybe.. lol. I had the father in law tell me a few things he could remember so that was nice. And Draker, high on square tubing you mean right? Sometimes I can't tell if I need to speed up my movement and the wire feed. 1 Quote Link to comment

But your weld is very acceptable. My welding teacher would have graded a B+ to A- I think. I got a B+ in that class.. so I'm right there with ya. 4 Quote Link to comment

uberkevin
Moving along. Fixed up this v8 cradle to hold a 4 cylinder. Fun little first welding project.. nothing special just wanted to run the DE before putting it in the 521. 3 Quote Link to comment
Draker
I'm planning on doing the same thing.. but mine will probably be quite a bit more ghetto. 2 Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
I'm planning on doing the same thing.. but mine will probably be quite a bit more ghetto. This was cheap! 35 bucks shipped. I paid something like 25 bucks for some welding magnets, and a few bucks for some wire. I jumped, kicked, hit with a hammer and these welds didn't brake. So I'll see what happens when I put the DE on. Found a valve cover while I wait for the one from Jrock. Imy an odd person and kinda don't wanna reuse the oil pump on the motor.. even tho I know it was a runner.. after I put this front cover on getting a new one came to mind.. Oh... and I happen to get a DZ push to start button.. Gotta fix my ign harness before installing that. Need a new stock plug. 3 Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
One step closer, put the oil pan on after painting it a darkesh purple, painted another valve cover I picked up after cleaning the shit out of it. After further investigation of my cluch.. I bought another.. haha 3 Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
Clearly new sparkplug wires/plugs oh and thermostat, temp sensor. I'll probably end up building some type of stand or something to hold some shit like the battery. Find a way to route the fuel pump. Oh I guess I've gotta find a alternator plug cuz Im definitely not going to cut mine from the truck harness. 1 Quote Link to comment

uberkevin
Lets hear it run! I'll definitely be setting up the gopro once I'm there. I've gotta go pick up a alt plug from a junkyard and wire everything up. Had to make my alt bracket fit.flywheel is on just need to double check torque on front pulley and the flywheel.. I've got a ton of oil around the house so I'll be using some fresh oil often. Lol Also I've got some diesel oil that's okay to use right? 2 Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
What oil is it? Delo, Rotella, Delvac??, 15/30? 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
Royal purple. He spent all his savings on it for cool guy purple Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
15w-40 ROTELLA T. Ive only bought Royal Purple once and that was for gear oil.. We have a Ford diesel here and for some reason we have two 5 gallon buckets of it.. also some other oils. I've heard of people using it before but I thought id ask. Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
This may seem like a dumb question but I need to know to make sure I get this right! there's two wires coming from the alternator plug.. what's the best way to wire these for testing my motor on this stand thingy. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I didn't even know you needed an alternator to test run an engine, but I deal with older engines and the Nissan SD series diesel engines, they are not run by ECUs. Quote Link to comment
uberkevin
I was thinking the same thing, I wasn't sure I needed the alternator hooked up. But that's why I asked to find out forsure. However.. I have no clue what's up with my harness. Haha of course.. Here what's up. No plug for this on my harness.. No knock sensor clip Also the red temp sensor. Now what I don't understand is why the fuck wouldn't my harness have these! Another set back... for now. Quote Link to comment
