So this isn't the update that I was talking about when I said you guys will shit bricks.... although, i am shitting bricks right now. I think the correct term is "livid".

Let me know when you spot the difference. Two weeks of waiting. Many emails back and forth just trying to find out if they had even shipped the part yet.... never did get a response. But here's what I ended up with...... this is NOT what I ordered.

Now i know better. BTW, they said a lot of people were scraping which is why they send the other one out now. They still sell the other style, just not by default... you'd think they would have it as another product on the site vs sending out something different that what you choose without explanation.

I was considering spilling the beans on here prior to receiving the next parts, but i think i'll wait. Hooray for good things coming!

i will go on record as saying thats a shitty powdercoating job ... that powder dripping off the upper right corner is cause there lazy and got the part hot .... just a short cut to doing it right or not having the right set up ... now i would rant about that ... but that s my expertise .. that and building things that may or may not work

Cross section of blow off valve

cross section of external wastegate

tech_boostcontrol_externalwastegateopen.

Wastegates are available in various sizes (33, 38, 40, 44, etc). BOVs are available in whatever size you can find (all the same). The same principles that apply to a wastegate limiting boost (venting pressure on the exhaust side) apply to a blow off valve (whos job it is to release excess pressure on the intake side). Seriously... i don't understand why people think this is silly.

You choose a wastegate based on the back pressure behind the compressor that you are trying to vent, which is the same thing in reverse on the intake side. Hopefully the pictures help clear this up. It's pretty straight forward. There are people who just put things on cars and don't understand why (turbo, bov, wastegate, intercooler piping, intercooler size, etc). You are supposed to pick the items that match up with the CFM you are pushing.

I never said anything stupid. I'm trying to show you that they are the same thing, except one is a "blow off valve" and the other is a "wastegate". The only major difference is that wastegates come in various sizes for different air flows.

Trying to type all that out quickly while I'm at work, so yeah, perhaps it could have been worded differently but.....

Damn, that sucks. There was some pretty cool stuff offered on their site.

Ooops, forgot to post this one. Waiting on coolant lines/fittings so I can finish hooking it up. Next steps are to install the other goodies on their way.. at which point there will be some welding and then tuning and driving. I promise, no more short teaser shitty videos... I'll use the go pro and upload some fun stuff.

I'm no longer just throwing things together. I'm going through fixing stuff as I see it. I pulled the clutch and brake master cylinder to run new brake lines and relocate the proportioning valve. No pictures of that because it's whatever.

P.S. I have a 7/8 master cylinder for sale now from Troy Ermish's wilwood braking kit. Let me know if you're interested. I am also selling a 240sx clutch master cylinder for sale.

Finally got around to welding on a dump tube to my wastegate so it doesn't blast nasty ass hot exhaust fumes and fuel particles all over my engine bay and into the cab (ha ha ha, scared me the first time that happened).

Just need to pick up a couple brake fittings, 2 coolant fittings and install the package arriving tomorrow and i'll be able to put the whole car back together and start tuning. If all goes well I won't need to spend too much time tuning. I would REALLY like to drive this to work on Monday... which doesn't seem unreasonable. It's just going to be tough because I have a wedding saturday and it's easter on sunday. I've always got time or money, but never both at the same time :)

I got these and put them together. It's going to be a BUSY weekend!

Drill a couple holes for brake lines in the firewall...

Remove the dash...

Make a bracket for the wilwoods...

Adjust the balance bar....

Bleed the brake system...

Cut/weld the v band flange on the old exhaust...

Install the turbo...

Attach all turbo coolant/oil lines...

Adjust the fuel map...

Install the 10lb wastegate spring...

Reinstall the dash...

Is that it? Off the top of my head, sounds like it.
