ggzilla
I've had that happen on two Datsuns. Just clean the threads with ether, let it dry, then used JB Weld. Years later the rod was still holding. Quote Link to comment
ZLOG
JB weld did the trick. Also, I had new-ish seats put in. The other ones I had in there didn't fold forward. 1 Quote Link to comment

Morrisun
Starting with the last first National 2016 oil seal, can pickup at Reilly's, or Amazon- has pictures of seal, any parts place carrying National Oil Seals. They couldn't find too many parts so they just gave me a list of things to track down. I'll just order the parts and have my mechanic buddy to swap everything out unless the shop gives me a good quote. I did get that hinge and it's all sorted out. The window regulator is shot, the locking mechanism stopped workin, and I need to smooth out some dents, so the door isn't 100, but the hinge is holdin strong. Is there an email list I can get on for the events? I'm always a day late/ dollar short. I need to connect w peeps who can show me how to upgrade this beast. Quote Link to comment
ZLOG
Has anyone had issues with the side indicator lamp bulbs rusting and getting stuck? I was gunna swap out a burnt bulb today and the old one just fell apart and the metal piece is stuck inside. Am I better off getting a whole new light assembly or is there a trick to getting the bastard out? Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
Potato Cut it in half and try using that. Works for broken house lights at least Quote Link to comment
Morrisun
You may try using a small pair of needle nose pliers, and grab hold of whats left of the base and turn, wiggle, shout and cuss. Once you remove the base, of the broken bulb, you can see how bad off the base of the lamp is, a very small Dremel wire wheel will often clean the socket. Check the contact in the bottom of the socket, it should be clean and bright. Sometime it's easier to remove the lamp from the car, and you can try a penetrating fluid to loosen the broken base as well. The gasket holds the lamp assembly to the fender, seals the water out-BUT after 45 years they tend to be less pliable. You may want to remove the stainless steel trim ring and clean the gasket. Maintenance, it's a Datsun thing! Quote Link to comment
ZLOG
Maintenance, it's a Datsun thing! Yes I am learning that  . I wish i had a garage so I could really take things apart without worrying about putting them back before I lose daylight. Are there such things as garage timeshares? Quote Link to comment
Morrisun
No, but garages do come up for rent in your part of Seattle from time to time, or start knocking on doors of senior citizens, some of them no longer drive and are looking for extra income. BUT it's been awhile since I lived there- great place to be with this kinda weather!! Doug Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
i think i'm about an hour north of seattle (maybe, haven't actually clocked it) up here in sedro woolley. i can loan you shop space but you'd have to have a ride back down or plan on spending the night zlog Quote Link to comment
KELMO
I know it probably doesn't need to be said but, if you are going to leave the lamp in the car while removing the broken bulb..........disconnect the battery. B) Quote Link to comment

ZLOG
I have blue/white smoke coming from the exhaust. I read that it could be the piston rings or a valve stem seal. I've got a meeting with the mechanic on Sunday so I will have him take a look. Quote Link to comment

Worn valve stem seals create lots of smoke but not fouled plugs. Quote Link to comment

Morrisun
It's a connector for cooling an automatic transmission model, not applicable for your 1200. Check the lower tank for damage-cracks?? The brass connectors are fairly soft, probably OK. You can plug then off/cut them off flush with the gland nuts, they may not be in the way of mounting your radiator. You may want to check out a Sentra, in your local parts pick n pull for rubber isolators and mounting brackets for ideas on mounting your radiator. Quote Link to comment
