datzenmike
Yeah this doesn't happen overnight. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
i dont think so its been running rich for a while so burnt valve is out of the picture Quote Link to comment
bonvo
yeah mike i know but when you think about it the engine is 36 years old and the only time it was ever opened up was for a head gasket and timing kit Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Damn, I have an L20B you could have. I'm going to save it when I scrap the car. I drove it home from the mainland, probably about 80 miles all together and ran beautiful. No smoke, no overheat, some small exhaust noise so you could hear the cylinders firing even, automatic, so not abused much too. '77 710. Next Canby??? Quote Link to comment
Tristin
You should pull that L20 and give it to Bonvo... Then let me have the spacers and pressure plate. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
datto down!!!! datto down!!!! car was having a hard time starting the past few days just did a compression test and found i have 55- 60 psi across the board :( little marvals mystery oil it jumps to 70 time for a rebuild.... Ouch !!! Is your compression tester gauge/hoses reliable/good ? All valves adjusted/checked ? ( I say that as I buy cheapy's and they don't last long for me haha ) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You should pull that L20 and give it to Bonvo... Then let me have the spacers and pressure plate. I'll do that for Canby, good thinking!!! Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Damn, that's way too far! The sooner you pull that engine the sooner everyone wins !! Quote Link to comment
bonvo
compression tester is known good valves are adjusted mike if your serious look into how much shipping that bad boy would be the idea of next canby is nice but if i dont have a motor before then i wont be at the next canby its kindof a catch 22 Quote Link to comment
Tristin
We could play leap frog with the engine. Mike can pull it and deliver it to Seattle. There I pull the spacers and pressure plate for myself. I then deliver it to La Pine, Oregon where Bonvo can install the engine. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
sounds like an epic ratsun quest Quote Link to comment
Tristin
Being that its Olympics time it will be like the passing of the torch... but itll be a small block. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
mike are you up for this? cause it sounds like a winning plan to me Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I would cost about $150 just for ferry rides. Just pop the head and pan. Remove pistons and hone, cheap cast iron rings and head gasket. Probably under $100. Good for at least 20K or Canby whichever comes first. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
lol yeah that kinda the plan now but im also in no hurry im poking around and seeing what comes my way before i pull the motor who knows maybe ill get a deal on the vg30 swap ive been wanting 1 Quote Link to comment
