Doctoraudio
Got the Intake manifold for the 45mm sidedraft! From a local Datsun, guy! Thanks, Eddie P. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
duals would be best to get the most PUNCH out of this I put my 38/38 Weber on for a test and I said Hell with that. 40mikunis was just so much better Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
Duals are a performance upgrade, for sure. If a dual manifold had arrived, I would have went that route. But a single 45, with some jetting adjustments should get it running smooth. After it gets 1500 miles on it. I will think about switching. Thank you. Quote Link to comment

Crash runs that linkage on his 521. I think it was developed for rallye racing where they needed redundancy in the return springs and other mods to make sure the throttles didn't get stuck open. A simpler linkage can be bought (Pierce) or built, using bits and pieces from stock carbs and/or other Webers or even Mikunis. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm missing the spring on my pedal so I wanted a better spring on the carburetor..... 2 Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
Crashtd420: That looks very robust! The stock redline trottle linkage is what I am used, too. I have never had an issue with it. Kind of want something different. Still need to run a manual choke! Maybe this is the better way? It's half the price of the red line one! I will order it in a day or two. Out, hustling! Another pressure washing job to finish! Then, I will order! 1 Quote Link to comment

It's definately a beefy unit... it was a little pricey but at the time I had some extra cash and splurged... I have never used the choke for my setup.. I does need a little throttle for a minute to warm up but that's all.... Usually it's just a couple presses on the pedal so the accelerator pump squirts some fuel and then just a little pedal while cranking and It will start .... I actually have an idle up solenoid because I have ac... I can activate it with a switch.... so on cold mornings I use it to help the truck warm up.... No choke just a fast idle... maybe 1000 rpm.... it drops to 800 when my ac compressor activates...... 2 Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
Thanks for the info! Trying to decide if I should try and mount this brake booster, I have. I had one in a 510 once. I just don't remember messing with it! What do you guys think? Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Boosters are for whimps... Jk, but seriously, the 510 really doesn't need a brake booster. 1 Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
It seems. I don't have the right adapter to put it in now. Today, I am cleaning up the coil and distributor. Still has the old paint on them. I will make sure things working. Will also try and get the back-plate, flywheel and clutch mounted to the new engine. 1 Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
Still cleanning parts and preping some of them for paint! Slow process. Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
The linkage should be here in 6 days! USPS! Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
Wow, My linkage came today. said it would be here in 7 days.. They fed-exed! Cool! Mine looks similar to your Crashtd420. Linkage looks the same not the mounting plate. Question: Are you having a need for a heat shield? Edited September 7, 2023 by Doctoraudio Quote Link to comment

Not yet, but i did wrap my headers.... it's on my list of things I should do for added insurance..... I haven't actually had an issues due to heat and I drive my truck on really hot days with my ac running and it's been fine..... definitely hot under the hood but the carburetor seemed fine..... Doctoraudio
Okay. Engine is off the engine stand. And now hanging from the hoist. Clutch pins didn't line up. They was offset by 4mm. So I, drilled them out some. The bolts line up. 2 Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
I also replaced all the intake and exhaust studs. Quote Link to comment
Doctoraudio
Had the wife and daughter come and give me 4 extra arms! And we got the engine mated to the tranny. It was very easy with their. help. Quote Link to comment

Doctoraudio
Motor mounts. At the moment the engine sits on the cross member. The oil pan is the one that came off the L18 that was in the car? Quote Link to comment
