FujiyamaMama
Well guys I hate to post this but I'm seriously thinking about selling the 510. I just really need the money. I don't really know what to do, I don't want to sell her you know but at the same time I don't think I can keep it. Opinions? Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
well whats the issue / situation ? Quote Link to comment
FoxyRoadster
I'd say how bad do you need the money.. If its for something serious like medical or home then yeah, if its for something else then nah keep it you'll regret it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If we're talking under a thousand dollars then store or give to a friend to,.... wait you moved to Texas. Know anyone who can store it for you till things change for the better? $1K won't get you far. A Datsun will get you through times of no money better than no money will get you through times of no Datsun. :) Quote Link to comment

Z-train
If the proceeds from the sale will COMPLETELY get you out of the situation you're in,then sell it.If the money will not,you are accomplishing two things: A)Not fixing the problem B)pissing yourself off everytime you are reminded of the car. FujiyamaMama
The problem is that the wiring has a short some where and I need to be able to get to work. I don't have money to take it to a shop which I want to do because I'm completely mentally exhausted with it. Quote Link to comment
FoxyRoadster
given that the wiring isnt too complicated have you considered just running a new harness? You can pick one up fairly cheap Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Run new harness? Have you even made a attemp to find the short? Get test light. remove the neg side battery cable from battery. mow place test light on battery post and the where the cable end is. Light will be on if a short. 1)remove the + side alternator wire. If light still ON it isnst the alternator. 2)disconnecct the ext volt reg. does light go out. If not then thats ok. 3) was this 510 convert to a later internal volt reg alternaot and the choke relay still connected. remove that and see if light is out. 4 Remove the fuses one at a time till the light goes out. when light goes out thats the circut that is shorted to ground. a common prople people hook up to the common on the fuse block. this will be the cig lighter door buzzer circut. soemtime people hook up tachs or other stuff to it and its powered all the time. dont be lazy you can do it. if our always broke$$$ then sell it and never get another 510. FujiyamaMama
I know this is a necro-post but I thought I'd share that I've listed her on ebay, sorry boys the time has come. Times are too rough on us to keep her. Quote Link to comment
Rhapakatui
Sad to see a member sell their car, but atleast you brought it to Texas first so maybe I have a chance of seeing it on the road. Still never seen a 510 live and moving. Quote Link to comment
FujiyamaMama
I used to drive it around in downtown LA so if you lived there you would've seen her then! I feel bad about selling her but at least she's in better condition now then when I got her and the money will help us out of the pinch we're in. Quote Link to comment
izzo
Yeah, itll help you out of the pinch, then what? You wont have a dime, and what happens if you get in another pinch? Best bet, keep the car, ride the hard times... :D Quote Link to comment

king bee66
you dont really need a car in austin until summer anyway, i get around easily by bike for short distances. if you still have it after SXSW i may be able to make an offer Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
How is that sunroof? How did you do it? and does it leak at all? Quote Link to comment
FoxyRoadster
Sad to see it go... Just a heads up since your in texas, if you have some room there is a rust free Z shell for sale on craiglist in dallas.. Needs everything as its rolling rust free (from the pictures) chassis but if you space and like 500 bucks.. Quote Link to comment
FujiyamaMama
I'll look for it! If I get enough for this I'll get that and hang on to it and use the rest for my problamos. The sunroof works and is leak free, it's from a 97 Accord I just never got to wiring it in. I found out it's actually the Accord interior, the headliner needs a little work to fit right I was debating keeping it or getting cloth. The seats fit well and are sitting in the back seat well. It's in South Austin. Quote Link to comment
izzo
I never did see a build thread for this, got a link? Quote Link to comment
Shagy
I have a tech friend that is in Round Rock. If you can talk to him, maybe he can fix it and you can keep it??? If I was still in Mesquite I'd say bring it up. Quote Link to comment
FujiyamaMama
I don't have any money to fix it, I have negative money! That's why I'm selling... I just really need the money but if it doesn't sell I'll have to figure out a way to get some because I will keep her! Where in Round Rock is he? Quote Link to comment
