ruckycharms
This topic is just beyond awesome.. I collect frames and I would love to see some dealership pics from here in California. Many of the dealerships original buildings still stand and I am going to start taking some pictures. Most are " slimy used car dealerships " now. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Notice the Elephant oil can on the cart. And that Datsuns were serviced here. The sign says Bluebird, Sunny 1000, Cedric but only the latter was sold as a Nissan-branded car. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Maybe they are running more than one model on the line? We ran chev and pontiac sedans and goons and Monte Carlo all on the same line at GM back in '74. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
AUS had L16 engines in 510 - marketed as the Datsun 1600. Photo may be Mexico? Quote Link to comment
spriso
Datsun 1600s were built in Australia at a VW plant (down the same assembly line!) from knock down kits and had to meet certain local content requirements. 1 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Since this has veered a bit from topic i will add this,, there is one wrong pic in article BUT the dude has seen the dealership a few times.. I to lazy to take dealership pics at bottom and rack it into photobucket right now. clickity clickity http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2435412/Nissan-fan-Peter-Butler-92-bought-32-cars-garage-FOUR-decades.html :geek: Quote Link to comment
decoy12
AUS had L16 engines in 510 - marketed as the Datsun 1600. Photo may be Mexico? I don't think it was Mexico, all they ran in the 510s and pick ups etc were J- Engines. In front of the 510 is a 4 door 1200 (A engines on the floor), which they didn't sell in Mexico either. ggzilla
Good eyes! I didn't notice that was a 1200 in front of the 510. And yes, those are not J-series engines but A-series. Quote Link to comment
