Eagle_Adam
Soooo last night banner came by to give me and jessi a hand with getting the new steering box we just got put in, ive been sicker than a dog since monday to the help was much needed! got the old one out, the new one is the same so it will go back in with no issues, BUT this bad boy, i believe is a "rag joint" correct me if im wrong but the splines on it are toast, rounded over and no bueno...... The rag joint is more of an issue that the steering box is... So i got lucky and called up bonvo to verify that the 610 had the same joint in its steering, it does so im going to have to pull the rag joint from my 610 coupe to put in the 710 so jessi can get back on the road, then find a new one for the 610.... Oh well, life goes on. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
since the steering wasnt going back together last night we decided to install the nissan thermostat we have for the goon and the new aluminum rad!!!!! But alas..... we were foiled :( the lower rad outlet is too long and interferes with the belt assembly, so we swapped the thermostat and put the old rad back in :( Quote Link to comment
its_karl
Hate to ask the obvious, couldn't the rad be re-mounted or the outlet cut a little? I imagine you thought about it but came up with a better use for the radiator later. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
lolz, yes the rad can be altered. but since its aluminum and a crucial part i need to plan it out before i start cutting Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
well this weekend was full of winning in the end! got the new rag joint & steering box installed this weekend, the goon is back to DD status! Drives better than it EVER has!!! super happy with the end results 2 Quote Link to comment

Eagle_Adam
well, the goon didnt make it to blue lake :( ended up just being a coolant line that popped off, kinda pissed at myself for not looking closer but in the heat of the moment i just asked jessi to limp it home so we could get to the show...... allways next year i guess. but since it was an easy fix it still got to be part of the after party at my place!! 1 Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
soooo, up next on the goon ar the Klotz front brakes and a new cylinder head/cam brakes first tho! if someone has a line on a ported closed chamber head im interested Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
The goon was a tad low on oil, which seems odd for a fresh motor.. So it got an oil change today, done about 2k on the motor after break in Quote Link to comment
CorAce
I like how the oil and cam cover match  1 Quote Link to comment
