last i saw of "american hot rod" boyd's ex does the payroll and his new wife doesn't do much of anything. i can't imagine being married to a woman for 20+ years and then getting a divorce and remarrying and still having to work with your ex every single day... but yea the ex is a bitch and boyd isn't worth shit anymore as far as i'm concerned.

Yes, modern wheels like that don't belong on 50s American steel. Looks worse than Daytons on a '65 Impala SS (and I have a friend who did that). Those wheels make it look like a Hot Wheels toy.

 

Of course, I don't know what those batwing wheels would look good on. Too lowriderish for me. Blecch. I'll take my 14" Slot mags.

Boyds ex wife was doing all the payroll and bills, but last year they sold the wheel manufacturing side of the business to American Racing? and his ex-wife and son went with it. She hasn't worked there in over a year. His current wife Jo is the ugly one that tries to dress like she's 20 but she's gotta be pushin' 50.

 

I recorded last nights show, I'll have to watch it tomorrow.

 

I personally think that Jimmy Shine and socal speed build much nicer and faster cars anyway.

Guys, it's like WWF, I hate to tell you but it's not real! :eek: Like a soap opera. How can anything be real (reality) when cameras are following every one around? All the people on these shows know that if people don't watch, to see fights, back stabbing, political intrigue, and yes T&A, (specially T&A) the show will fold. And their paycheck too. Sorry.:D

 

I used to watch them but to get more viewers they started emphasizing too much on the people (actors) than on the cars or the build. It's all entertainment, I want to learn stuff like welding tips or body work and see new ideas brought to life in their cars. Really cool stuff you know? Now that's entertainment for me!

c'mon now us guys are finally getting a car related soap opera that's 'not really a soap opera' and you have to go and ruin it by saying its fake?! hahaha... nah just jokin. i know most of it is setup. it's hard to tell sometimes tho exactly how much is scripted and how much isn't. from what i know of the production process and all that, i think it's more likely that that producers will make suggestions to certain members of the show so as to start something or escalate a situation.. and then they edit to seem like it was a very explosive situation and it came up out of the blue or something like that...

 

that being said i watch hard shine almost every week cause i thought that girl was hillarious and because socal speedshop builds the coolest hotrods imo. that truck i think is funny because he said he gets mad when people call it a ratrod, but that truck is the reason the ratrod movement picked up the way it did in recent years. before that truck was shown in a million magazines around the world, there weren't very many "finished" looking non painted cars. and i definately agree with him about his being able to do whatever he wants, it's his truck. it would be different if the truck was owned by the shop or a customer vehicle or something, but it's his name on the title, it was designed in his head and built by his hands. i think his boss needs to get over it.

I agree with Datzenmike.....I want to see the how too....the way Overhaulin' started out. We still enjoy it, but there hasn't been any new ones. I quit watching American Chopper because it changed from welding/fabbing to "my size 10" crap all the time.
