dholic that is some good info. are you really human? or a vast computer hard drive? wow l16's were made that long huh. i would have never thought. and here i was worried i wouldn't be able to find one. loose l16 on craigslist everywhere, nobody wants them.:( is there a way too date a l16? i too had a title 1970 521 with round side markers. no engine but the coil was mounted on the firewall. i cant stand the look of that coil location.:mad:

get your flack jacket ready. not all mini trucks were created equally. that being said nobody makes mini trucks anymore so there all nostalgic. datsun was the first by a couple decades and didn't sub out there chit like mazda/courier and isuzu/luv or whoever made who. i do like the courier the best and would own a fairly mint one maybe:confused:. i think 72 was the first year of the courier. talk about a late start. not even vw had a mini truck back in the day and their car sales smashed datsun into the ground. little did they know what datsun was starting. back then you had to make your own vw truck by hacking up a micro bus.

that was me that snagged the 520 steering wheel listed as a 521. i ended up paying $60 for it and it's cracked all to hell. i may fill in the cracks with some black epoxy mix or something. that horn ring is hella hard to find though. i'll be keeping my old as a spare. tdaaj does have one i'm sure. pm him, you may have to bug the hell out of him. i know he has a 510 horn ring that looks super cool. dont know if he has a 510 steering wheel. i wonder if a 510 steering wheel will fit on a 521? i would stick with an original and leave the after markets at the store where they belong. just me though:lol:

72 521 i got in 1996 after driving by it a couple dozen times i had to buy it. it had a sale sign in it and was straight for $500 i gave the old guy some new $100 bills from the new design of that year. i had to tell him they weren't fake. 71 521 i got last year from craigslist for $260. it's my daily beater. 77 620 i bought this year from a person i know to help him out. sore subject. it's not worth the metal it's stamped on.

did they make a 1800 or 2000?

i take it this is the rarest of the l series valve covers followed by the 1600? will the l13 fit on the l16?

i too like to make my own gaskets. if you get the housing with the extra water port line you could use it for a after market water temp gauge. like a tripple gauge. finding the adapter isn't easy though. i love having dual water sending units and dual oil light and pressure gauge. most people like to chop out the original and hook up after market stuff. you can always run both if ya want.

nice truck, i love the interior pull handles and the steering wheel horn ring!! i just bought one of those steering wheel horn ring setup from epray and think i may have paid too much. i hope it will go on my 521 i'm with dmike put some 80/90 synthetic in there. i read somewhere that the 520 is more rare than the 320 even? dont know if it's true, maybe more 520's have been crushed. i can tell you one thing there aren't many 520's around. i'd go with the l20b setup personally.

i would have kicked the shit out of him. i just renewed my cpl permit last month. $35 for another 5 years. law says you can protect your family and property. i've carried a gun so long i feel naked when i leave it at home thinking the only deadly weapon i have now is my car/truck. i got my cpl the month after i turned 21. have had it for 10 years and never had to wave my gun at anyone yet and hope i dont have to. better to have one and not need it rather than need one and not have it!!!

yes i agree with tnip and hang 510. just put in your max bid and let the auto ebay bidding system work. if i want something really bad i will watch it at the last second and sometimes use my super snip software brain. i can snipe with dial up nocharge just by timing it just right. although with dial up you dont want to screw around too much or you'll loose at the last second. agreed software makes no difference if your not willing to pay what your max bid already is. duh! hence the term max bid. bid on ebayers!!!!

some of us dont have the talent to cut and shape these things. i bought a jc whitney rug for my 521 years ago and ended up giving it away cause it fit like shit. i've been lucky enough to find a couple 521 rugs (none for sale). i might not cost too much to have an upolstry shop make one look nice. it's not like there is a lot of floor there! i need one for my 620. nos one on ebay right now, i wonder how much it will bring in. a nos 521 rug would be nice. did 521's even come with rugs or just mats?
