    • This is a little off topic, but thank you for posting those pictures of your Urvan carburetor. Yours if the first one I've seen (besides mine) that doesn't have a third port for a vacuum line on the side.

    • Hello All,   Thanks for kind comments.   Update:   - auto electrical work completed  - stage 1 deadening completed  - radiator re cored - exhaust cleaned and painted  - starter motor, alternator installed   I will be installing the cooling system and exhaust tonight and fingers crossed starting the engine.   I have read a fair bit and have the following infomation:   Cooling System:   - My thermostat body does not have a bypass outlet. So I will be drilling 1/8 inch hole in the thermostat. So the head does not get hot-spots. - I will not be connecting a coolant line to the intake manifold, As I am worried about potential water leakage. From what I have read I don't think it will be necessary. This car is a week-end driver and I live in Australia - Min 8 and Max 40 degrees or 46F-104F. I don't think cold starts will be a problem.   Filling up the radiator: I will fill coolant 50/50 mix - green type A - is this correct or should it be type b. I will leave the cap off and keep the engine running and continually top-up. The engine is a rebuild so i dont think i need to flush out the system.   Engine start:   - I have aligned the engine on TDC through a camera to see the top of the piston, and I have checked lobes which look correct. The rotor is roughly pointing at lead #1. The only potential is that the timing indicator is 20/10/0 type and TDC lines up on the 20 mark. My guess is that the indicator is inccorect and it should be just a single pointer.   Prior to engine start:   - Fill oil filter with oil  - Crank a few times without ignition coil lead to get oil pressure. - Start engine  - monitor and wait for thermostat to open    Run in engine??? What is the process, the vehicle is not drivable.     Some photos          p.s - what is the easiest way to post photos
    • Arrgh the 2+2, not many straight 260s here in Australia.  Nearly all 2+2 enjoy.   My BIL is out getting new floors and a tidy up.  Has a Tesla rear drive unit out back and batteries up front 🙂   Lookforward to seeing this one on the road.
