TrevDaddy
Bought an L20B bottom end, 78' 5SPD tranny, driveshaft, wiper motor, alt, seat belts, among other things for my new build commencing soon. Quote Link to comment
ariascarlos1990
I was thinking of something more along the lines of a couple kegs of PBR and another bench in the back just for fun. (was actually thinking of picking up a keg for Canby if the money's there around that time) I had fun cruising around in the back of Carlos's truck, sitting on my old bench with Lynch. Good times! :P Quote Link to comment
shancerlelby
i manned up and walked out thru the snow and put my new shifter knob on. its pretty flamer but super cool. close up and the personal 240z wheel. hub doesn't fit right tho. Anyone have a 521 hub? and fail town new tyre has a leak. Quote Link to comment
denveratsun
Went to the JY and scored some cool factory "Datsun" floor mats...and "Datsun" mud flaps. Yes...I am going to rock those on my 521! Quote Link to comment
motavated
Finally got my truck rolling and sent it in for alignment. I expect it to be done maybe in 3 days... Quote Link to comment
TrevDaddy
Unseized my L20 bottom end. Then attempted to clean some misc parts, but turned out to be way to messy. Started up the unhappy L16 and got tons of black smoke, I wish I would have left the valves alone. Quote Link to comment
kezark31
drove mine! forgot about if for a while...FORGOT how badass and fun it was! Quote Link to comment
F8d2blk1
A big to do list is in progress: Removed motor from an 80 720 and removed motor from my 76 620. Transplanting soon... Right now I am trying to give my engine bay a makeover, cut out some rust from underneath of the battery tray. Weld in new metal from a washing machine. Center console from 720 is going in the 620. So much to do, so little time with a 2 year old and a honey dew list. Quote Link to comment

76bullit
I stared at it again last night and wished I could be driving it but now I'm a broke ass and can afford it. Quote Link to comment
TrevDaddy
L20: Separated engine from tranny, removed some bolts and brackets, organized hardware and misc parts. Truck: Adjusted the valves again and leaned out the mixture to a good point. Swapped in the old plugs because the new ones were sooted and damp. Runs better than last time, revs faster, but still stutters and the mid RPM range. oh yeah received some rock auto goodies. Quote Link to comment
720Joe
Got that. Whatcha think? Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
Finally got sick of the improper-idling Hitachi carb (which was brand-new) on the '76 KC. It would only idle if you clutch-stalled the engine down under 900RPM, otherwise it would float open the vacuum secondary. Being that caused a 2000 RPM idle, it was wearing out my brakes since it wouldn't decelerate. Put the Weber off my '76 parts truck, I now need to do something with the air injection hoses since there's no stock air cleaner to hook them to anymore, and stripping off the air injection manifold is out of the question for now. But now it idles normal, and maybe the gas mileage will improve. Also readjusted the brakes as they got "springy", but the driver's side adjuster was siezed. Took it out- it IS possible to remove without fully removing the brake shoes- pounded it apart with a brass drift, and lubed with anti-sieze. Good to go now. Took the passenger-side armrest off the parts truck and put it on the driver's door of the '76. Been riding without an armrest since I got it. Was missing one of the clips, took that off a spare door I got from Bleach years ago. Reattached the panel clips, most were pulled out. Investigated why the parking brake doesn't work- all cables are present and attached, but no tension. Turns out the adjuster was backed completely off, and the front cable is siezed. So going to have to replace that if I can't get it working. Tried replacing the broken passenger-side mirror but the retaining nuts just spin, so I can't get the old mirror mount off. Have to take the door apart to get at the retainers from the inside. So the list is down to: 1) Change transmission (summer project, trans in in the part truck) 2) Reinstall step bumper (I don't like having my taillights unprotected. Am running cracked lenses now just in case) 3) Rewire radio to something less kludgy... like having the switched power actually switched rather than always-hot (easy but not necessary, popping the faceplate turns it off and it reminds me to take the faceplate off anyway) 4) Crank the torsions down a bit 5) Switch wheels with those on the parts truck (but need to replace rear tires on said wheels). 6) Get some seats that mount to something OTHER than the floorpans, they aren't strong enough to hold the Chevy van seats in there right now. Might get my old KC seats restuffed and reupholstered, they're about as comfortable as a bus shelter bench right now. 7) While doing that, rip out the carpets which are saturated in moldy candy, cigarette butts, and other noxious chemicals. I guess the list isn't that small... and I'm still driving this thing nearly daily. Quote Link to comment

family200
I opened all the doors and fuel door to check for little bee nests. Found one in the drivers door jamb. The paper wasps are getting an early start this year. The 521 sat in a blackberry field for several years and I am constantly finding bee nests in it. I keep a can of bee spray in the truck with me, and have used it on several occasions while driving down the road. Quote Link to comment
Jason521
Continue to sand the bed free of rust so i can spray the bed and make the truck one color. been debating greatly over how i want to do my sounds inside the truck getting ready for the dynomat and carpet make it more comfortable for the ladies who complain they see the street while im driving! give me a break Quote Link to comment
Guest DatsuNoob
Went down to William's oil filter (W.O.F.S.C.O) on puyallup ave in Tacoma and picked out some AN fittings and had some fuel lines made. Also picked up an air tank, some pipe fittings for my water separator and regulator,, and weldable tank fittings for my mid tank I'll be using for paint/bedliner. Goodbye tax return Quote Link to comment
East 620
Took 24 hours to put my truck back together which was scattered all over my yard for over 9 months. Grill, headlights, valance, bumper, radiator, and fan all painted and cleaned. Machined a mounting plate for a 100 amp alternator. Put everything back together with new stainless bolts and washers. Treated my transmission with some sea foam. Got her cranked about 6 this evening. Ran her at 60 with unaligned headlights and no tag, but damn it gets to 60 fast. Glad to have my truck back running. I might even get a drivers license some day. Quote Link to comment
Roadracer Al
Scored a pair of rusted out doors with good glass, window regulators, interior panels, arm rests, and both inside and outside handles. If the seals had been good it would have been totally awesome instead of pretty awesome for $40! Quote Link to comment
East 620
Scraped up 3.54$ in change and took my unregistered tag-less 620 to the gas station, put 1 1/2 gallons of fresh gas in her. So much better than the year old gunk I got her running on. So then me and my buddy cruised around town, at 60. Cut off a couple of people, drifted through the gravel alleys at the oil mill, and flew over some railroad tracks (gotta get her worn in again) What difference does it make if it's legal or not when we are both underage with no licenses. I'm really starting to like my purty truck less, I'm just too damned big for it. Considering a king cab with bucket seats, give me some leg room. Or maybe find a 610. It was fun. hessianben
Re-jetted the carb, changed fuel filter, topped off with coolant, oil... ...drove to corner gas station to fill up- cutting out at mid-rpm on the drive over... ...died in intersection on way home, no hazards/lights- cop escorted me as i pushed through intersection... ...called brother to rope-tow me home- tried new battery- getting 12volts... ...take alternator to Autozone to test- FAIL. sweet, new alt = $35 with core = not having to search wiring!!! yaay! ...install alt, still getting 12.6Volts, replace fuse for wipers (bowing filament), get 14volts !! yaay! ...notice leak from radiator neck, trip to rad. shop, 'that'll be $45' ready tomorrow, sigh...
