XXL
It is from a mid to late 70s Ford van. Thanks. The later vans (1980's and up) all seem to have less of a bucket and more of a "louver punch" in them, which leaves a huge open edge at the top (just out of sight on the vans, but definitely not something that would look good grafted into something custom). I've simply made the last few I needed by hammering some sheetmetal around a buck, then welding on a back, but 1) that's a lot of welding before I've even started putting it in the vehicle, and 2) it leaves a hard inside corner along the back of the bucket... I rolled the edge of my sides in my bead roller once to try to round them, but that was tons more work on top of the rest-- better to do like is in your pic and snag something already formed). 1 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
I have 4 more weeks of PT 2 times a week. I received results from my sleep tests lats summer and they have diagnosed me with severe sleep apnea. The severe scale starts at 30 I am at 127. I stop breathing 127 times an hour. My oxygen level drops to 81%. So I have to get CPAP machine and an oxygen generator. If this will get me some sleep I will do what it takes. Hopefullly I will have a better nights sleep via a machine that keeps my air passage open. 3 Quote Link to comment

I wish I had sleep apnea so I could correct it...instead I'm just tired all the time. So, be glad you may end up well rested! 1 Quote Link to comment
gene knight
i also have sleep apnea but not as severe as charlies and i will have to use a cpap machine in the future cuz i did a sleep study and they said i was tossing and turning at least 51 times in the first 2 hours Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I've had my machine for a couple of years now. I definitely sleep better, but I didn't notice the euphoric extra energy that everyone seems to say they get after they get their machine. Heck.....I'm about ready to take a nap right now! lol 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Mike I had a sleep test done a few years ago and it resulted in my ear nose and throat doctor during a 4 procedure nasal surgery where basically he routered out my nasal passages and repaired my broken nose from when I was a kid. I did not sleep any better but the increase in air flow while breathing helped my energy level tremendously. I was still drowsy all day but I had more energy if that makes any sense. I have had this sleep disorder as long as I can remember. I used to get spankings as a kid for being up all night. 1 Quote Link to comment

ol' 320
Nice. I need to see an ENT...I have enlarged turbinates as far as I can tell. I can't survive just breathing through my nose most of the time...I can't get enough air :| Matt: I researched this surgery quite extensively .... Dr. Robert Capasso - considered by some as one of the top five ENTs in the world (Check his medical journal articles on the subject) is at Stanford. I had him perform this procedure as well as two others on me in 2011. I live is the Central Valley, where every known pollen seems prevalent, and I breathe so much better. Read up on the turbinate reduction.... most docs just fry your turbinates and then if you get caught out in cold weather or snow country you can feel like you have a perpetual brain freeze going. Feel free to PM me if you would like to talk with someone who did extensive research before having this done. The procedure is in theory "simple" but the level of post op success is highly dependent on the surgeon's technique and skill. 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Thank you ol' 320 for reaching out to Matt I do appreciate this. I had a great surgeon here and am very pleased with the results from the nasal surgery. Went with my brother Garret today to check out my father Mazda M5 with 38,000 miles on it. He received a written estimate from his mechanic for replacing the axle shaft assemblies for $1114. All we had to do was replace the small end boot bands for now, less than $10. We will watch to see if the come loose again and if they do we will remove the axle shafts from the car and install new band on both ends. So tomorrow I will work on my 520 some and see how I do. I used my gel knee pads today and was careful getting up and down on the driveway. What I found out is that it hurts to lay on my right side on the concrete. That is the hip I broke last year that has a 2' rod and 3 screws in. 2 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
What ever the day brings forth Mr Tanker. I hope to get some work done on my 520 this week. It will be slow as I helped my brother work on my dad's mazda and could hardly move the next day. My right hip is giving me hell. 3 Quote Link to comment
ol' 320
Hey Charlie ... checking in. I hope you are making good progress. Take care of the knees! You always press on regardless ... You'll get there! Soon you'll be driving this:) 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Did not get to the 520 butt Shawn came over this morning and we threw some tires and rims that AZHitman gave me a while back in the back of my King Cab 720 and went down to the tire place and had them dismount 2 tires, mount those 2 tires on some 78/79 620 wheels I have and balance them and then put them on the front of my King Cab. Shawn paid $30 dollars and we headed to The Wittmann auto wrecking yard to get a pair of 78 620 upper control arms. Shawn also scored a set of early really loud Cadillac El Dorado horns. Those will get the point across. Also picked up a used oxygen sensor for my King Cab. We got back home about 6:00 pm and unloaded and Shawn went to work installing an alarm system in his 521. Getting ready to barbecue some hot dogs and make some Kraft cheese & macaroni to feed Shawn's family and us. When the girls finish there homework then it will be a Netflix kids night. I should be able to get some sleep to night, fingers crossed. It has been a great day to be alive!!! 5 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I went to visit Jan today at the VW wrecking yard. I was talking with him about me ordering a Optima group 25 battery tray and he said try this and pulled off the shelft a new unused Optima batterry tray. Not sure I like it but I will hold on to it until I get the Optima battery and see how it fits and try different placements. This is the battery tray I was thinking of ordering. 3 Quote Link to comment
