Great story! Thanks.

* I think he got ripped off at $4700 ... the 1972 Datsun of same size was under $2000 when brand new

* That was back when the industry was telling everybody that FWD was better than RWD. Most people it seems believed it.

* The trade-in was a B210 (1974-1978). "210" was 1979-1982 models

Mike it was in my secret yard... Its the only datto that your allowed to pull parts off of, there is a tiny section of the yard roped off that your allowed to pull parts off of, but im sure there are more dattos out there, im slowly but surly befriending the owner and im sure he will let me wander around the rest of the yard soon. There is a 83 nissan 720 with 5 speed and such, an 82 280zx with no 5 speed or struts... HAHA...

Yeah, I was wondering if that was it. Did you get the struts and 5 speed off of that burgandy 280 ? If so did it still have the almost cool mesh wheels on the back? They did have a white standard cab 620 that had a decent headliner and an almost usable bumper overrider. I was going to pull the 620 stuff but the guy wanted like 30 bucks for the headliner. He just started pulling numbers out of the air. I asked him if he realized it was a datsun and left, I havent been back.

Did you end up finding the right water outlet?

There was an old grumpy guy in there with a beard and jokes so bad they were funny who said he had a couple pickups hed part with but I lost his contact info...I still have the best luck at pull and save and craigslist. Its kind of funny with craigslist, the advertised part that I go to look at is damn near always FUBAR but I end up getting other stuff that I need/want. I bought an L20 for a rebuilder and the guy tossed in a couple webers, a shitload of hitachis, intakes, blah blah blah and a PERFECT tailgate to replace the one that I beat semi straight with a sledge hammer. My bed was damn near full on the way home.

Last time I went to pull and save I was looking for the Sat. alternator crap and found a KC with a crack free dash, good headliner and the interior surround panels in the back that were friggin perfect... I forgot all about the alternator stuff till I was halfway home, Im not complaining though:lol:

Mike, the 280zx is black and by the time i got to it the 5 speed was gone, didnt see any wheels but i did get the front struts. They crushed like 200 cars about 2 months ago and are putting there inventory back together. The guy that owns it is a younger guy named todd there is also and old guy thats there all the time he is cool as hell. He let me take a air cut off wheel powered by c02 out in the yard and cut some parts some things!

They do have a white Yugo that i really want!!!! Yugo for LIFE!

I always look in the gloveboxes of cars, I find lots of tools:D:fu:

ALWAYS check the glove boxes. It's where flaky owners put new parts, meaning to put them on 'some day'. I got brand new U-joint in box for truck and a set of new NGK plugs for L20B. All went into my pockets.:)

That wasn's a girl named Kim. It was a guy named Franklin. Notice the middle name Edward? Kim was the LAST name.

Too bad that car went to the scrapyard, as it has a lot less rust than most F10s and the F10 wagon was fairly rare in the US. Looks like it got pretty trashed though even before it ended up in the yard.

I was going to say it's been a long time since I saw an F10 on the road, but I saw one about a month ago out on Spanaway Loop. First one I'd seen in motion in 4 or 5 years.

  • 3 weeks later...

Great post! I've only been to that yard once; last summer, I think. I asked about prices on an L head and a couple of other things, and the answers were pretty vague. The day I was there, there were about three BIG junkyard dogs laying in the front office that followed me out into the yard. I asked the guy, are they trained to get me if I cross "The Rope"? He said "Yup". I'm sure he was joking (but I stayed on the approved side of the rope anyway).

I'm going to have to get up there and check out the F10. I need to confess (again) that I have a '77 F10 hatch that I diverted from being hauled to the crusher. I'm still working on getting a title, and I don't want to do a lot of work until I get one. But just this morning I got a good, solid contact for the lady who is the last owner. Whether she will sign it over remains to be seen. She is working out of the US, so I will have to mail a lost title/release form to her. Wish me luck.
