I would only do this one way, make perfect cuts when separating the top of the cab from the bottom, close the holes by welding covers on, then close the holes on the top also and make a way to bolt/clip the top on, I seen a 520 done this way(a kit), otherwise every time it rains your butt gets wet when you need to drive it or your limited to good weather driving, and in reality at some point your going to get rained on.

 

I have met a few people that had Roadsters with no top, it is fun for a while but in the end it just gets old.
