73 610 sedan no more 521s!

So last year i ended my sedan search for a 610. I spent about 6 years looking for one. Everytime i found one i was broke or had just spent what i was saving on a 521. 

 

So finally one random day i finally had the cash in hand to buy this one. I wasted no time called the dude in new mexico asked 3 questions, sent him money, and arranged shipping right away. I took it apart right away and slow have been putting it together. My goal is for november.

 

Over the last few months ive sent everything for new zinc, powdercoat, polyurethane everything new bearings sr swap and more. The list is endless. But im starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

 

I went with zx spindles and a twisted images air bag kit. I bought all my poly bushings from troy ermish and soon ill be getting either his wilwood or stoptech brake kit. I imported a pair of tires from the u.k simply cause i wanted the size and its discontinued here.

 

Rear wheels are 14x10 -38 ssr mk3

The fronts are 14x8.5 -13 watanabe type r.

so ive driven it a couple times now nothing far or crazy. but im going in for an alignment tommorrow. the adventures start soon.

sooooo it got aligned......and i broke down 1 mile from home haha either a bad ground on the fuel pump....or a flake of rust plugged up the pickup tube even though the tank got cleaned lol. it ran perfect after we pulled it home 🙃

How it quit can tell a lot.

 

Did it shut off suddenly?.... ignition or electrical.

 

Stuttering, maybe back fire, jerking ahead back and forth?... running our of fuel.

 

Could be electric pump but too easy to check if it's on and working.

Could be flake of rust on pickup tube but it would have to be very large to block the pipe. (and the tank was cleaned)

 

 

Would be a good idea to find this so you don't get stranded farther from home. In the dark. In the rain and cold. No cell phone coverage. No AAA

Pump was loud 

Just put 5 gallons of gas in it

Sputtering and kicking 

It runs fine now last time this happened in my 521 in vegas. Ended up being a rust flake

I also took it out to test some wheels on it. I figured out the exact size and ofset i need now. By the time i chose to say fuck it and buy them someone else did oh wheel i snoozed and lost. But i got some great pics out of it.

I also decided to drive it to JCCS in long beach. Total trip was a lil over 1100 miles. Not bad on a car with bags. It was pretty comfy. Sr did great did 70-85 mph most of the way it was hot. It was muggy. I hated it. Lol. I see an ac setup commin in the future. Needs alot more drive time. While in long beach i was all over the place. Corona, riverside, los angeles, oxnard and many more cities. Only issue i had was i rubbed through my clutch soft line cause my dumbass likes to drag and make sparks....oops 😆  i fixed it during the show and drove out like nothjng happened. Met alot of amazing new people. Got a few repairs to do. But for now i just keep it in storage.

Hmu if you're gonna do any cars and coffee events in/around the bay would love to see more than one 610 in one place!

Thanks it still listed. But on marketplace. The LA one on craigslist was wrecked recently sadly. 

 

It needs tires after i drove it to long beach. Also i need 2 new fron zx hubs and spindles. Mine are toast from when i got em. 

 

Also i think i need a rear wheel bearing im not sure. So itll be a while before its out there again. I opened up a shop in modesto so no time for my stuff. Lol.

The spindle is basically the strut itself. Unless one of the bearings seized and ruined the spindle, it probably just needs inner and outer bearings replaced and repacked with new grease. Bad bearings make a growling sound.
