I am looking for new seats for my 720.  You know where I can find OEM seats or have suggestions on good seats that fit well in the truck?

If you search a bit you’ll find some alternatives . My choice is to find some 300ZX or 350z seats. I’ve read that the 300ZX about bolt in

2000-2003 Isuzu Rodeo seats. The mechanical ones. I am told that the Honda Passport ones will work too, but I didnt care for the headrest. My Rodeo seats are a huge improvement. Just flip the computer under the drivers seat so the forward / backward slide clears and you are good to go.

If you are very short, 88-92 Mazda 626 seats are easy to install but will sit way too high.
Swapped my Mazda seats for a pair from a 1998 Escort, they were not too hard to install and works great, but since I live in Sweden it's the euro model and probably not an alternative for you, our Escort was built on a Ford platform and I think the US Escort was based on a Mazda platform... ?

I got some good bucket seats out of the junk yard that were in a Isuzu Rodeo, I believe it was a 1996, they fit directly in like they were made for my 720

Also you can just swap passenger and driver's side around or steal a passenger seat from your parts truck.

I investigated swapping the passenger-side over to the driver-side, but both have the handle on the outside edge that flips the seat forward.  It looks like the mechanisms don't swap from one side to the other (passenger to driver).

 

How are you managing this?

Actually, my Nissan 720 came with the seats on the wrong sides, (driver on passenger passenger on driver) and it actually fits, I didn’t even notice it until recently becuase the person before me put new carpeting in the truck, the only problem so that the levers go down all the way until it’s pressing against the tranny tunnel and it’s kinda hard to find a grip, other than that I’ve thought about putting 180SX type X seats in there, they might fit? Idk. 😕

Like said before Z31 300zx seats fit great. I had the leather ones out of a turbo in my 84 and they were great. Bolt holes line up almost perfectly.

S13 seats will need a ton of modification to fit.  The manner in which they bolt to the car is not standard and would require some effort to figure out a work around.  Not saying they won't work, but they are no where near bolt in.

 

All you really need is a tape measure and a junkyard.  Measure length and width of the truck seat bolt pattern, then start measuring at the junkyard.

I had hoped to keep the original look to the interior.  The seat bottom is badly broken.  I took it to a local expert, renowned for classic car interior repair and she told me it would require rebuilding the seat bottom, including the foam - to do it right.  It would be expensive to keep the OEM look, so it might be better to replace them with another model seat and keep these for future consideration.  I really love the vintage seats. 🙂

I wonder if it is too hard to disassemble the bottom part of the seats and migrate them from one side to the other... My side is starting to break and the passenger one is like new...i'm driving the truck alone 95% of the time.

It is surprisingly easy to rebuild seat bottom cushions.  The only "trick" is getting access to a sewing machine with enough oomph to sew vinyl.  If there is welting between the panels, vinyl welting is available but is usually slightly larger than factory sewn welting.  You would not notice the difference. Cut foam to dimensions of seat bottom springs.  Lay burlap on the springs.  add padding. cut panels by laying material on top of original panels and cut one inch wider all around.  Flip on back and staple together including welting.  Sew and pull staples.  Use hog rings to attach to seat structure.

 

Embellishment , go to local move it yourself and buy some roll of thin white foam sheet used to put between plates when DIY moving.  Place on springs before adding burlap.  It keeps future burlap crud off your carpet.

I thought about that too.  I was afraid the clips holding the strips of the zig zag springs might not last un-clamping and re-clamping them a lot. 🙂

 

Also, I imagine the shape of the bends in the springs are different (mirror images of each other).  I could not find the same size springs for these seats, available for sale.  Some similar sizes, but not really that close.

The clips that hold upholstery on are called hog rings.  You can buy hog ring pliers at harbor freight.  You can buy new hog rings online or from most upholstery shops.  Hog rings can be reused but it's annoying.

I have friends who put Honda S2000, Civic, and Integra seats that bolt up.
