BB510
Does anyone have accurate details on the "Trans Am Decor Package"? I have seen the brochure and purchased one. How did this program work? Were these parts just dealer installed options? I have seen pictures oftwo cars claiming to be Trans Am Decor Package cars and they both hadRed seats and carpeting. I wouldn't imagine that dealers would installdifferent seats and carpeting? Does anyone have a price list? The last page of the brochure hasInterparts address and phone number. How was Interpart/BRE involvedin this if at all? Is there any accounting of how many cars were equiped with theTrans Am Decor Package? Page two of the brochure has a somewhat stylized depiction of theBrock Buster adding the BRE Stripes which are part of the Decor Package.I do not see anywhere in the brochure that fiberglass is an option yetthe two cars I have seen claiming to be Trans Am Decor Package carshave front and rear BRE style flares. Thanks all! BB510 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Does anyone have accurate details on the "Trans Am Decor Package"? I have seen the brochure and purchased one. Sounds like you have the details to me? ^_^ Were these parts just dealer installed options? Yes. I have seen pictures of two cars claiming to be Trans Am Decor Package cars Easy to claim with no way to back it up except having the original window sticker that shows the VIN and the option package, Also, would it add any extra value to the car? Not really. Not unless it was 100% original and in pristine condition. Restored or modified would mean any perceived "added value" is long gone. in this if at all?The last page of the brochure has Interparts address and phone number. How was Interpart/BRE involved Likely not much more than lending their name to it. Is there any accounting of how many cars were equiped with the Trans Am Decor Package? Being a dealer installed package, nope. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The spook, and the tach would be an improvement but hood pins? really??? the rest is just dress up including the steering wheel. You could probably duplicate the kit with some work but finding the badges would be difficult. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
You could probably duplicate the kit with some work but finding the badges would be difficult. Dash one is easy. C-pillar badges, never even heard of anyone reproducing those... but hood pins? really??? The BRE race car had them, so... the rest is just dress up This whole thing is 100% dress-up... ^_^ Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't like body piercings for the same reason. It's mutilation.... Quote Link to comment

This whole thing is 100% dress-up... ^_^ So if we take this white car for sale...... I assume that $40k or more was spent on the restoration as it appears well done to me. According to what I know about this "Trans Am Décor Package" the BRE fiberglass fenders were not part of it. So the fact that this car has BRE fiberglass has nothing to do with the "Trans Am Décor Package" it is just a further modification to this car? I do think that hood pins on a factory steel hood are quite funny. -BB510 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
This is an old German saying "Yeder tsu seinem geshmuck" or Each to his own taste ! Pennsylvania Dutch just might also recognize .I don't like . Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
So the fact that this car has BRE fiberglass has nothing to do with the "Trans Am Décor Package" it is just a further modification to this car? Yes. Also, without receipts, that is not a "fact". This is one of my past 510s. This car had genuine BRE fenders and rear flares, installed in 1973, with the paperwork to prove it. Without that, they are worth nothing more than one with reproduction fenders... 1 Quote Link to comment
Tedman
Photo at corner of Bluebird Avenue. Nice! Seriously, the Trans Am décor package was just a dealer aftermarket parts marketing promotion for dress up parts that could be purchased at your local Datsun parts counter, and most, if not all of those parts were also available from BRE/Interpart as well. Some dealers undoubtedly threw the décor kit catalog at a few cars and sold them off the lot for a markup, but I'm guessing mostly those bits found their way onto cars as piece parts sold over the parts counter. 1 Quote Link to comment
Jesse C.
My old 69 had the Mulholland package on it, that I got off a '73. Simply just sway bars, coils and shocks. I have run across cars with all sorts of little bits that came off other cars or the dealership parts dept. And yes, they where all pretty much regular 510's with little goodies here and there. Most of these items can still be obtained rather easily and if not, who would really know about them? In my opinion, this package is only really desirable to a hardcore Datsun guy and not to the guy getting ready to replace a L-18SSS with an SR engine. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
IF.... you had the complete TransAm kit it might be worth something to someone.... maybe. Mostly for the tach, wheel and spook. Quote Link to comment
