five1oh
Nice how did you install the 1600 badge on the back? It's the eBay one. I have a real 1800sss one with the prongs but didn't want to install it. The eBay one comes with 3M double stick tape on the back. Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Love it. So clean. 1 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
Installed my other pillar vent however I will be switching screws since these ones I feel are slightly too big for the holes. I have only one that is the right size that I will be matching. I also installed my freshly painted interior trim moldings. five1oh
Decided to start installing my harnesses.......to be honest I am a little overwhelmed as I have/had no clue where things go. After unravelling the factory bends (LOL) started to take shape and guide me with what to do. Then I started grabbing my accessories like gauge cluster, steering column cover, signal switch, heater defroster, etc, etc. Most of the plugs I started to match but there are still a bunch I need to figure out. Wiring is NOT my strength. First thing I did was clean off the harnesses with some simple green and I installed the fuse box. As an FYI i purchased P510 harnesses for the whole car. While my car has a lot of higher end SSS options and with me wanting to install some other factory add ons from other cars it will take me some time to figure out. For instance I want to use my lighted switches from 1973 since I heard the 1800SSS coupe had them. The plug for the wiper switch will work but the headlight switch has a different plug but the same amount of wires....hopefully I can figure it out but I may have to run the Japan switch since those cars had different parking light switched and flash to pass etc etc. If anyone has a Japanese P510 wiring diagram it would be super helpful. Anyways on to the pics! Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Because I am broke I used my 1973 backlit heater panel but it wouldn't fit so I had to cut off the light bucket....sorry guys: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I have been saving this center section since high school   :) :) It is a perfect uncut piece with the factory blanks (obviously I will be running my foglight switch and more than likely a cigarette lighter but this is oh so cool). Couple this with my factory map light switch and it will be perfect Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Also going to run this super nice SSS gauge cluster. Looks like my Skyline one  Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
I have been wanting to install my hood latch release cable but needed the harness in to do so since it is routed through the top of the rubber grommet on the fire wall: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I had my daughter help me test it and it works perfectly  4 Quote Link to comment
gmkeegan
Why not buy a new grommet? do they not make after market ones. Love the SSS dash!!!! Quote Link to comment

carterb
Amazing progress. Your car is looking really nice. I agree with you on the grill - leaving it as is. It's not a bad thing to show its age. --carter 1 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
1/4 windows are ready for paint :) Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I changed out the screws on the pillar vents......much better now. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I tucked the wire harness behind the steering column. I still need to mount it with P clamps but still working on routing and understanding where everything goes. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I picked up my 63di cam from Rebello Racing along with new springs and a head gasket. five1oh
........................................so i did a thing................................ After much thought and work on my taillights I decided with as NICE as this car is turning out I was really getting bummed about installing the lights I had.......don't get me wrong they are super nice and would've been fine but I had to fix a bunch of mounts, create my own rubber gaskets, and I wasn't feeling good about it. When a NOS set came up for sale I could not resist. Probably not the best financial decision but they are DEFINITELY worth EVERY penny. five1oh
Time to paint my calipers.........one thing I never knew when I got them is that they needed to be painted. I thought the gray color WAS paint and ran them on WANABRE for a year. When swapping to this car I noticed they had started to get surface rust so cleaned them up with a wire brush and painted them with high temp black paint. While I was working on the rear I pulled my halfshafts to give them a coat of paint as well. I know I have at least one bad U-Joint so that will be getting replaced before re-installation: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr CAN"T GET ENOUGH OF THAT REAR END!!!!!!!!!!!!!! datsunfreak
Engine VIN ID tag mounted. I am planning on stamping it but need to buy the stamps first: I used my Snap-On stamps but the numbers were just a little too big. I have been told the stamps you get from Harbor Freight are the correct size, though. https://www.harborfreight.com/36-piece-18-in-steel-letternumber-stamping-set-63676.html They offer 1/8", 1/4", and 3/8". 1 Quote Link to comment

carterb
Glad to see you got covers to protect those fancy tails. I saw them (the NOS tail lights) on Yahoo Japan and despite their insane price, I figured someone would still have to have them... 2 Quote Link to comment
