Ratwagon1600
I need the steering box and idler arm. The only place this steering box will be going is into the trash pile. Its a spear column or what we sometimes describe as a "death column". Lucky for RW he has a stash of spare collapsible columns and associated goodies. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
What collapsible column are you using? Did 510s come with them and I just didn't know, or are you retro fitting something? Quote Link to comment

A lot! of our Aussie ones came with a collapsible column, and a seperate steering box. Generally the later model ones (70,71). Havent heard of a retrofit from another model, not to say it cant or hasnt been done. Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Dug this piece of goodness out of the parts stash this morning. Pretty pleased to see it had the inner quarter section in there as well as part of the wheel well and boot rubber retainer thingy as ill be needing all of this. It should clean up pretty well and despite its current apperance, its relatively rust free. Shame I dont have its brother for the RH side :( 1 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
OK, some binky inspired fabrication, and a lot of paint stripper. 3 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
FUUUUUCCCCKKKK, why the hell cant people repair things properly is beyond me, anyway /rant. Rear quarter is more or less stripped. What a fucking nightmare ! Im at the point now where I think ill just save my pennies for the next couple of weeks and buy two new replacement quarter panels. Not the cheapest option, but hey, this is going to be a decent resto and kept (hopefully for myy little bloke when hes old enough to drive in the next twelve years) so may as well do it right. On a prettier note, support tabs for the radiator support panel just to show I do have something for the car thats not a combination of rippled panels, rust and body filler. Might bend them today and start hand forming the lip on the edge, or maybe just clean up my shed for half an hour and then start drinking beer. Hmmmm, decisions.......... Who the fuck am I kidding, its beer time. 2 Quote Link to comment
Duncan
My sentiments exactly regarding the "repairs" performed on my wagon... FUUUUUCCCCKKKK, why the hell cant people repair things properly is beyond me, anyway /rant. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
Pretty happy with how this repair piece is turning out. It's been a while since ive done any hand forming/fabrication work so im a little rusty. Just needs the captive nut welded in and a little tidy up and it will be close to perfect (for me anyway). Hopefully get to look at a front cut today which might have the repair section I need for the RH side inner guard. The existing one is borderline non repairable :( 2 Quote Link to comment
