Oregon_PLG222
I'm working on getting my 1970 510 4-dr on the road. It's been sitting for 20 years so...all new masters, slave, gas lines, etc. I'm not sure what to do about wheels and tires. I'm not looking to go all out race car or slammed style. I want to keep it pretty stock. It has some solid chrome 13" wheels on it But a bit rusty. I also have a set of 14" aluminum z wheels that where on my 76 280. I have several trucks (222 223 320's and 521's) but, this is my first car project. P.s. I may also have access to some roadster wheels if they would fit ( if I can talk my wife out of a set). Ideas? 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
If u want to keep it pretty stock, get some 510 wheels and some new 175/70R13 tires. It will.handle better than new but look pretty stock. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
If you step up to 14 or 15 inch rims, you'll have many more tire choices. The Z rims would be a happy medium in my book. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
stock with 69 hubcaps is the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
shacks510
If you're wanting to keep the classic look, I agree, 13"s or 14"s is the way to go. 175 & 185/70R13 tires are still pretty available. Not too sure on 14"s. Could always step up to 15" ZX "swastikas" and still have a classic look. 15" tires are starting to dwindle but the options are greater than 13" and 14". If you really want to step it up and get a modern look, 16x9 will fit without flares.  Just kidding. Don't try it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Oregon_PLG222
If the pics work, the dish ones on it came with it and are 13". But, they are pretty rough and may not clean up. These are the Z ones and are 14". They appear to be cast aluminum. What's the best way to clean up the aluminum? media blast? 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Iron Cross, very nice! 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Stock tire is 5.60x13. so in a 14 " rim (assuming 6" wide?) you want something 23.2" diameter to keep your speedometer and acceleration the same. 180/65R14 is 7" wide and the same height. There are others. 1 Quote Link to comment
Oregon_PLG222
Thanks for the good info on tire size. Now, what's the correct way to clean up the alum wheels? Also, I'm thinking I would want some lettered (white) tires. Any idea for a good brand/ series that would look cool? I didn't have to think much about the truck tires since I just kept it stock looking and simple. They're just schwabs with a 1 inch whitewall. 1 Quote Link to comment
reza
Looks like we are into the same cars... I'm pretty sure I've seen your green truck drive by my house a couple times... I have a 71 521 and a 71 510 2dr. 2 Quote Link to comment

Oregon_PLG222
What color are you datsuns? I'll look for them. My wife and I actually have 12 total between us. I bought the 510 late last summer and kept it covered all winter. So, I'm just getting started working on it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Oregon_PLG222
I like the wheels. I've seen your truck in the driveway. In fact, I saw it Thursday night when dropping my Daughter off at her house on rounds. I pointed it out and tried to convince her that she wants one too. 2 Quote Link to comment
Oregon_PLG222
Oh, I forgot I have these. Problem is, they were my son's and he had given or loaned two of them to a friend. He's trying to track them down. 1 Quote Link to comment

So, my son finds out that the other two enkies got hauled to the scrap yard. Also, after looking all around my little Datsunville, I can only find three of the iron cross Z wheels. Ughh! I posted a WTB in the classifieds. I'd like to find something like your indy mags. They look sweet on the 510. I might drag the enkies and iron cross wheels to Canby. Perhaps I can sell them to someone that can use them. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
I think I have a random single iron cross laying around here somewhere if you just want to compete your set. Pm me if you're interested and I will see if I can dig it up. Quote Link to comment
