paradime
Can't watch stupidity from the riders perspective. I have too strong an empathetic response to separate myself as passive observer. I'd never ride like that, and I have no desire to experience it, vicariously or otherwise. 1 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
I guess there's a law in Wa now allowing for lane splitting, if you're in traffic going 25 or less and you hit the left most lane and go more left. Yeah, I'll avoid all that myself. Never been interested in it unless I was in an absolute rush and still never did it Quote Link to comment
VFR800
Can't watch stupidity from the riders perspective. I have too strong an empathetic response to separate myself as passive observer. I'd never ride like that, and I have no desire to experience it, vicariously or otherwise. I ride and whilst I will go in between cars etc to advance I do not do it the way this moron does. There's having a thrill and then there's asking to die. Quote Link to comment

paradime
A 70 year old 1000cc Vincent engine wrapped in a modern chassis. Tell god I found something else to worship. I've seen the light. 5 Quote Link to comment
paradime
I might start a second person build thread for this, but... About 4 years ago, my best buddy Lindsay brought a trailer up from San Diego and bought a bike from my neighbor. OK it is an RZ500 V4 2 stroke with super light Jolly expansion chamber pipes (maybe titanium) and California plates. One of very few in the state, because 2 strokes were outlawed in the early 80s. A little history on this bike, it was "imported" from Nevada as a classic in 1997. My neighbor Denis broke it down and sent the motor to the East coast to have it built by non other than Morgan Racing. I confirmed this with a bit of research. Hello Ron,Sorry for the long delay. Some SOB with nothing better to do infected my website with malware. I hadlost e-mail (unable to send but could receive) and you did not leave acontact tel. number.Well anyways I had someone work to get e-mail running and I hope this getsto you.Yes we worked on Dennis's engine back in 1998. WOW 15 years back.Cranks were checked, trued and pins welded, new main bearings installed.Cylinders were bored and honed and portedHeads were cut and rechamberedCarbs were bored to 27.75 mmReed cages were modifiedNew reed valvesNew seals and gasketsIf I can help you out on anything else please let me know. I have fullaccess to all parts and accessories. Thanks,Will MorganMorgan RacingPO Box 272West Brookfield, MA 01585Tel: 508-867-6295 After sitting in Lins's garage, FINALLY I get the call he's doing something with it. At first the he was thinking a light update resto-mod with stock faring, side covers and seats. With some "persuasion" now he's doing a full R6 front / rear conversion and stripping EVERYTHING off the bike. I got his list of mods this morning. Project "Barracuda" Named after the song by "Heart". List of mods for the RZ500 Front End: A. New Yamaha 2007 R6 front end with gold shocks. Modified by RGV-Steve.B. Carbon Fiber Fender with blue titanium hardware.C. New braided steel brake lines with blue banjo bolts.D. Will look at new golden flower wobble brake rotors.F. Will look at new Brembo Calipers. Very Expensive unless found used.G. New anodized blue or gold clip-ons plus levers and titanium bolts.H. All hand made aluminum front fairing frame with titanium hardware.I. 1987 FZ600 front fairing being looked at. Has dual round headlights.J. Something special in the way of rear view mirrors plus LED turn signals.K. New gold billet reservoirs for brake and clutch fluids.L. Gold or blue anodized steering damper.M. Billet machined gold top triple clamp.N. Gauge cluster might remain stock or switched out to pure digital aftermarket.O. Radar Detector plus GPS unit and travel/mileage clock. Frame: A. Sandblast off paint and all useless tabs cut off and crappy welds finished and ground down for better looks.B. Will not finish paint frame until all items and mods are fitted. Frame to be textured flat black like rear swingarm and front fork lowers. This will hide the frame's obvious faults and draw more attention to the engine.C. Fuel tank likely kept stock but repainted...possibly with fish scales in blue and silver. Also large Yamaha "Tuning forks" logo on the tank, or artsy fish head with eyes and teeth.D. Rear sub frame might get cut off and rebuilt out of bolt on aluminum tubing. For now, stock steel. Yuk.E. Rear seat and tail unit to be sort of 70's retro, with battery and some electrics inside.F. Clever use of metals and LEDs to make tail brackets for plate and turn signals unique and cool.G. Hole from rear shock in rear swingarm of R6 to be used as a: storage area/oil tank/power valve servo location/water bottle/tool kit location. Will decide later.H. Rear sets likely by SATO racing, gold anodized. Fucking HOT looking. See website.I. As much hardware as possible to be Titanium throughout the bike.J. All brackets and supports to be remade out of Aluminum where possible.K. Remake kickstand out of aluminum. Engine: A. Bead blasted and set up with blue titanium hardware.B. Clever use of blue painted bits around the engine.C. Carb bodies possibly painted blue with chrome polished tops and float bowels underneith.D. Possible hand machined aluminum parts to replace crappy looking steel carb and power valve components.E. Blue plumbing pipes from Samko Racing.F. Possible clear water pump cover machined from Plastic? Or something else done so coolant can be seen?G. Hydrualic clutch kit.F. Special sprocket to fit new smaller gauge chain than stock so that chain alignments are easier. Per RGV-Steve.G. Exhaust pipes to be metal spray coated in some light shade of electric blue. Top pipes to be glass wrapped to reduce heat under the seat area.H. Remake all covers on the engine to display Yamaha's 3 tuning forks logo instead of engish text. Possible to use the true japanese characters in the spelling of the word as well.I. Look for billet engine parts such as covers and even heads if possible. Seen but hard to source. Look into dry clutch kit if possible. J. Look for race version spark coils. Rear End: A. Carbon fiber rear fender with red LED lamps in the slotted vents to add to brake light brilliance.B. 2007 R6 rear swingarm modified to fit stock frame. Modified by RGV-Steve.C. Brakes all redone with braided steel and possible Brembo and new rotors at some point.D. Ohlins shock spring is yellow now, maybe blue later. Maybe blue on the linkages as well, or gold, like the shock body already is.E. Might send in the rear shock and have the oil line lengthened so the resevoir can be more ideally mounted.E. Shock supports under the engine to be remade of Aluminum instead of the hideous looking steel units. Summary: Bike will likely weigh 100 pounds less over original stock. Everything on the machine was steel, steel and oh yeah, steel. It makes you wonder why they even bothered with aluminum in the few places they put it. Horribly heavy frame. Will look into remaking a custom frame from scratch if possible. 1 Quote Link to comment
