RaptorReed
O h and a Sky master sitting by them. A close friend of mine said in El Salvador these had the surname of Vaca. (Cow) because of the mini cannon they had affixed for strafing runs on the rebels. The noise from the cannon sounded like a mooing cow. Saw those take off everyday back in 2012, when I was on det down in El salvador with VP-69, VP-8 had a deployment detachment there too. They had the Skymasters, Dragonflies, and a couple UH-1 Hueys (single engine/2 blade) in their airforce. 2 Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
Sometimes the O-2 gets a civilian job after it's retirement from the military. Like this one at KDTO today. It is now a platform for carrying around a Big Ass FLIR on one of it's wing hard points. 2 Quote Link to comment

I swear that when he made a radio call on the Uni-com frequency, he called out "Sky Bastard Seven Charlie Bravo." 1 Quote Link to comment

I swear that when he made a radio call on the Uni-com frequency, he called out "Sky Bastard Seven Charlie Bravo." And then was the AF Captain who "persuaded" his ground crew to load Sidewinders unspaid of smoke rockets on his 02 and had a ball "smoking" Charlies in the early days of our "assistance" phase in Viet Nam! It was a Spotters Aircraft a lot of more "fun", timely and effective until the Colonels got it all "approved" in Saigon! "Sir, my shotgun isn't warm from the sun1 it's because I SHOT MY WAY FROM YOUR SAFE BASE to Phu Bai and I won't put my arms on your unguarded table ! "My driver eats first, then I will eat if we are still alive!" 2 Quote Link to comment
