DaBlist
Got some front brake hose brackets cut out and welded in. Only welded them in the middle because of where I used seam sealer on the other side of the inner fender 2 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
Didn't like the brake lines on the fire wall so ran them a crossed the inside 3 Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Picked up my header and down pipe from being ceramic coated. Wish I would have gone with my original plan of a cast iron color. This is called titanium an ended up brighter than I wanted. 4 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
Needed to get the AC compressor mounted. The factory bracket is a huge cast piece that uses an idler pulley so I used a smaller smog pump bracket for the pivot mount And built a bracket for the compressor Needed a tensioner and had this around. Think it's for a power steering pump. Slice and diced it 4 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
Getting the trans ready, seals, throw out bearing etc. and noticed how much the clutch fork sticks out. Yep, hits the fire wall 4 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Time to notch the firewall? Must admit, I'm a little surprised the main transmission body is iron... Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Must admit, I'm a little surprised the main transmission body is iron... That's because is magnetic for better gas mileage 4 Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Didn't have any idea how much movement the clutch fork has so I dug the old clutch slave out of the trash. There is 1.25" of travel from the first seal to the end of the bore so I shouldn't need anymore than that A little slicing, a little heat, a little hammering, a little welding 4 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
Spending to much time on little things that nobody sees. The original gas pedal arm goes down through the pedal box with splines on the engine compartment side an another arm attached to the splines I don't have room for that so I cut the straight section with the splines off, made an arm for the gas pedal with a roller and welded it. Cut up another gas pedal bracket from I don't know what and welded to the fire wall. Then made a mount for the throttle cable bracket with a stud so I don't have to lay under there trying to start the first bolt. Cobbled together bracket for the throttle cable using a bunch of pieces and a sliding door roller. [/u Not much for all the hours but should work 4 Quote Link to comment

DaBlist
Wanted to use the original fuse box location on the drivers side inner fender for the brake / clutch reservoir and have it drain through the original harness opening The area is wedged shaped do to the inner fender just below. Doing image searches for reservoirs wasn't finding anything that would work so bought filler neck from Speedway It's made from 22 gage and MIG welded with shorts tacks that ended up being full of leaks so I ground and cleaned and cleaned with plans of soldering over the seams. I haven't soldered anything that wasn't copper in a really long time. Using propane and the lead free solder and flux kit my local hardware store sells I couldn't get the solder to flow no matter how hard I tried so I started brazing over the seams until I ran out of acetylene. Hopefully will get finished this week 3 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Very cool. I've played that EXACT same game. On my z22 510 oil pan. It sucked. I also couldn't get solder to stick. Hope the brazing works well. That is something I've never done. I would love to buy a new mig that is capable of mig brazing. One day. Quote Link to comment
