Most guys running Rabbit inserts in 2002's cut 2 or 2.5" out of the strut tube and put a 3 or 2.5" piece of pipe in the bottom of the tube to make up for the 5" shorter insert but guys running pretty low say they wish they would have cut more. After mocking things up and measuring a bizillion times I decided to cut the whole 5" out of the strut.

Beveled the tubes and used a copper insert to stop blow throw for welding

At this ride height the strut has 4.25" of compression and 2.5" of droop. With the raised crossmember and tucked exhaust there's 4" of ground clearance so hoping with bump stops to end up with around 3 to 3.5" of up ward travel.

Setting it up with only .5 degrees of negative camber so will need bump steer / roll center spacers to keep from going into postive camber under compression. Only ones I could find currently for 2002's are offset and $125 a pair with $28 shipping. I think they come from Canada.

Mine are M42 nuts that I notched on one side and welded tabs to the other.

This is one of my favorite builds on here right now. Ive been waiting for updates. Sweet freaking spacers. I'm a fan.

Looks like you finished and painted your steelies? Or are they still in mock up? I haven't assembled mine yet.

Thanks, rims are still just pressed together

I'm running a 4" narrower front track width. Each front wheel is moved in 2" and this limits the turning angle. The front wheels are hitting a bulge the pushes out into the front side of the front fender well.

This is the front corner of the passenger side fender well with cuts made in the bulge

got anything done to this sweet build?

Should have that big opening I cut in the firewall finished up soon, Will confirm with pictures.

I bought a new wheelbarrow to cut up for the contours I wanted for recessing the area but it was so thin it was too much trouble to weld. Anybody need some wheelbarrow handles and wheel

The stock heater sticks through a large rectangular hole in the top of the firewall that traps water and rusts and there are lots of holes for hoses etc. below it so earlier I cut out the area.

Raised the tunnel, filled in the top of the opening and welded a 1/2 tube around the edge. Maybe get finished tonight.

Will miss being able to stand in the engine apartment and reach and see both sides of the firewall when working on the pedal assembly

Its sad and hashed but it I want it. I needed to share this with someone who I thought would understand :)

Now that I have shared that gratuitous story...

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS FABULOUS BUILD?

Got distracted from the 2002 when this followed me home. I got tired of hauling gas cans etc in my daily Saturn.
