Kirden
Ah ok, which route will you be going on yours? I like the idea of the rear and a remote burp can, but haven't really looked into it that much. Quote Link to comment
Kirden
bah, I read that wrong I think. Read it as rear or top, not rear of top :P Stupid databases have me seeing sideways. Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
What tools, feeds and speeds are you using? Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
I'm plumbing mine into a catch then plumbed from that to the intake manifold. Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
Wonder if a purchased extrusion with a separate top cap couled be used instead of the block? Then only light milling would be needed to get the desired peripheral In other words a 2 part cover. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
What tools, feeds and speeds are you using? 3/4" 3flt 1"LOC 2.7" reach. 6100RPM 36IPM 1" axial depth .150" radial depth of cut. Volume milling tool path. @ 2.7" Depth 1" Iscar Turbo mill 4852rpm 27.5IPM .100" ADC .400" RDC Finish at 3.250" depth. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Seems like with this much work, milling a mold that would stand up to casting aluminum could be the way to go? Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
I can look into what a foundry need for a plug and get a quote. 2 Quote Link to comment

I might be able to find aluminum box tube with the same profile as the valve cover flange. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I can look into what a foundry need for a plug and get a quote. Seems like it could allow you to do "mass production" at a much lower cost per unit. Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
The foundry usually want a minimum order. Its not cheap in small run quantities. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
My mom's retired neighbor pours aluminum castings. Made her some thick address numbers for a post at the driveway. It can't be too hard :P Cast it slightly oversized & machine to perfection? 1 Quote Link to comment
EastBay521
^^sounds like the way to go Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
I took a foundry class and it is harder than it looks, and es muy peligroso I like the extrusion tube idea, but I am going to get quotes for sand cast items too. 1 Quote Link to comment
EastBay521
Not if your smoke. but I see how it could be dangerous Quote Link to comment

Mattndew76
I'm going to model up an idea tonight. Make a valve cover from (2) 2" x 6" 6061 bars. This could make the cover taller for rocker clearance and would be way faster to machine than a 3.25" depth of cut. Would also make it easier for some differing cap designs. Base bolts to the head and the cap bolts to the base. Quote Link to comment
