RedSquare
Nice. I always wanted to do a tape and seal job like that on a car. Keeps things neat. We do it this way on the aircrafts we work on here at work. 1 Quote Link to comment

kaoss
Yep. It's sitting next to my work bench, had to buy a washer and dryer instead. 1 Quote Link to comment
maltese
Glad I'm not the only one whose Datsun money went into appliances. The clothes do smell good, though. And the wife is happy, so... 1 Quote Link to comment

Mr.Dean_Yates
I read threads like this and it makes me want to build a mini again. I always did static drops but I've always wanted to get into bags. Then I remember I'm a pest control tech whose also paying 20gs to get professional welding certificates and who rents a house from a slum lord...I barely have enough to start working on a z that's already running and driving hahaha 1 Quote Link to comment
chandlerGTi
That paint scheme is extraordinary. Glad you decided to keep it! Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Well, after the body drop there was an issue with the solid steering shaft hitting the fire wall. I trimmed the tube around the shaft and got it mounted within 1/8" of it's original spot. I drilled one hole out a little lower and reinforced the frame using a piece of 2x3 that I cut out. I'm still not super happy that I couldn't replicate the factory set up. Hole drilled: Donor material for gusset. welded up and painted. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Are you planning to sleeve that hole? Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Are you planning to sleeve that hole? No, I'm really hoping the gusset I added would suffice. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
You will likely end up crushing the rail over time. Those bolts see a lot of force, this is why they are sleeved from the factory. Quote Link to comment

kaoss
Yeah, just run the mill seam sealer. It's $40 a tube at the big box store, but I found it at the local mom and pop auto paint supply store for $16. 2 Quote Link to comment
