D.D.Anderson
Hey, I have just brought a set of new skyline rims for my B310. They are 14x6, and i would like to have pirelli tyres on them. They are aluminum C210 rims. But im not allowed to put picture for show :( tried anything but no success. What tyre dimensions/profile should i choose? Would be super with a few suggestions and photos to show how it looks like. Not sure of 180/60... 165/60... don't know at all. Quote Link to comment
nismosilvia
Oics are highly recommended. Depending on location tire might help get a better response. Oics Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
I guess the first question should be: Do you know how tires are sized? Next, the offset of the rims may be important to determine if the width of tire will cause them to rub or not. Quote Link to comment
D.D.Anderson
Well i really try to avoid making accounts to be able to put pictures, why not normal uploading and glue? Yeah i know about the sizing, but for example, if the tyre says 185, does it mean 185mm? si it the whole tyre width from rims edges or only where the tyre pattern width is? and the profile, fx 65, does it also measure in mm? alittle unsure there... math is really not my thing, and i regret that i couldn't learn it... KlassicMotion
Unwritten bylaws state: "Thou Shalt Not post a new thread without pictures!" :) So, I know this isn't a B310 but the wheels are 14x6 with 185/60/14 on them. I suggest you just start looking at pictures and when you find a look you like, ask what size the tires are. And maybe try buying some cheap used tires and try them out to find a starting point. D.D.Anderson
Im really trying to put a picture here, but only message i get is (you're not allowed to use that immage exstension)... I can't figure out what the problem is... i will try further. But your 510 picture just solved my problem, i think i had a temporary brainblock. After searching and thinking about tyres all day i think i came up with the right tyre for the skyline wheels. Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde185/55 R14 80H, but i gotta think this through mange times first, not easy... I will show pictures of the new wheels after a while! Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
The first number, 185, is in millimeters. The second number is the ratio of sidewall height to section width, so 185/60 means that the sidewall height is 60% of the 185mm width (.60 x 185mm = 111mm sidewall height). It's hard to judge a tire just on these measurements, though, because some tires have more of a square profile where the tread is close to the same width as the section width, whereas others have a section width wider than the tread making the tires look more round/balloon. Lower profile tires will tend to be more square, due to the shorter, stiffer sidewall. A 6" wide rim will tend to be closer to 7" lip to lip. 7" = 177.8mm, so a 185 tire should be fairly in line with the rim. If you're calculating total diameter of the wheel + tire, then you must take the sidewall height (.80 x 155), double it, and add it to the wheel diameter in the same units (~25.4mm per inch): (.80 x 155) x 2 + (13 x 25.4) = 578.2mm = 22.76". 185/60/14 would be (.60 x 185) x 2 + (14 x 25.4) = 577.6mm = 22.74. So, they are essentially identical in overall diameter. You would probably want to go with a shorter sidewall. Quote Link to comment
D.D.Anderson
Oh damn look at all that math... makes my brain "melt" and "twitch"... Thanks for the information, i will try to understand it. umh.... Quote Link to comment

D.D.Anderson
I think i gonna try exactly that. gotta be completely sure... i will check the car tomorrow and compare wheels. Im kinda tired of the "Varrstoen V2 Gold 15x8's with the 185/44 R15 Nankang NS-2", they makes car wiggle. think i gotta use them only for show, not for joydrive, Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
Datsunfreak,, remember that car i posted in car porn a while ago that i couldn't get the picture to be bigger than thumbnail??? Well there it is. ^^ Thread jack over. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I would go with 165 get that streched look Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
. Use 185/55R14 This is likely close. First I assume you want a wider tire but it has to be the same height as the original stock tire that was on it?? Or your speedometer will be all wrong and performance slowed. Would need to know what your original tire size is first. With this info a 14" tire about 6" wide and the same diameter can be selected. As mentioned this is only half the equation. The rim offset could be terribly wrong with the rim extending out past the body or in too far and the tire rubbing the strut. The rims should always fit the car. The car should never have to fit the rims. Quote Link to comment
jser12
I found a set of Kuhmos in a 165/60r14 and I was going to order them shortly to put on my 6j wheels. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I would go with 165 get that streched look A 165 will not really be a "stretch" on a 6" wheel (165mm is 6.5"). It's barely a stretch on a 7" wheel. I think I'm going to try them on an 8" wheel and see what happens... Datsunfreak,, remember that car i posted in car porn a while ago that i couldn't get the picture to be bigger than thumbnail??? I have several big pics of it, if you need them. ^_^ Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
165 is narrow rubber, only 3/8" wider than the 1968 tires. Go with performance, 195 or wider. Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
that a nice goon 1 Quote Link to comment

It doesn't look cool With baloonwheels. No problem if Speedo shows 5km/h wrong. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
So what is the stock tyre size for your car then? Quote Link to comment
D.D.Anderson
155/80 R13 - 13x4,5 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
If you could get a 195/50R14 that would be a little more than 1" (27.6mm) smaller in overall diameter. Or a 185/55 would be 0.75" (19.1mm) smaller. I'm not sure how available these sizes are, though. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
160/80R13 (closest I could find) is 6.3" wide and 23" tall, so... 175/65 R 14 is 6.89" wide and 22.96" tall 180/65 R 14 is 7.09" wide and 23.21" tall This assumes you can fit a 7" wide tire on the car using a 7" rim. Diameter is so close to stock there will be no speedo error. Quote Link to comment
