monkbonk
I found someone on craigslist that's looking to trade his 71 International step side truck for my 1949 3/4 Chevrolet pickup (as seen here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/57832-instead-of-clear-coating-does-anyone-put/?hl=patina&do=findComment&comment=986736 ) Should I do it? My 49 is running/driving but will require a complete brake overhaul and swap (have most of the parts, not the tools/help and the extra chassis is taking up needed space). I also need to find new rims/tires for it. It's got split rims and tubed bias ply still on it. Converted it to 12volt. Has door latch issues and needs some cracked/ghosted glass replaced. 1971: Needs floor pans replaced from the looks of it. Has Ford 460, Holley 650 and c6 auto trans out of a 1978 Lincoln car. Runs reliably. Needs interior work. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb158/chicorunsfunny/110dr_zpsb8c72868.jpg http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb158/chicorunsfunny/passfloor_zpscbdc3e0d.jpg Quote Link to comment
hobbes_the_cat
Around here in the Pacific Northwest it seems the internationals don't have a lot of value unless they are 4x4. I would look realistically at you actually finishing and using the 49. For me I would be more likely to finish the IH since it's drive able but I wouldn't plan on a lot of resale value when you get tired of it. Quote Link to comment
Ooph!
I have a 76 Scout II, and I think if they are both equal the Chevy will always be worth more then the Cornbinder even if it has some potential. Also with a 460 you may see some low fuel mileage as those 460 cubic inches get fed at all times. Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
If it was mine I would keep the 49 chevy Quote Link to comment
wayno
The chevy truck is worth more when in comparable condition, and there is a lot of aftermarket support out there for the chevy trucks, don't know about the International. I am a bit bias though, I have a chevy truck myself. Yours can look like this given enough time, and I don't have a fortune into this, but I likely have more into it than I think. 2 Quote Link to comment
GRpufnstuf
Keep the Chevy 1. Look at gas $$, 460? Ouch the original 345/392 would have been bad enough. 2. Chevy will hold better cash value over time. 3. More potential in the Chevy Quote Link to comment
Rocket Dog
Chevy +1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Trade either one of them for a Datsun. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
keep the chevy over all a much better truck and is worth alot more Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
460 are dogs. Way more character in the 49'. I have a feeling that you'll regret this trade if you do it. Take your time and do the necessary repairs right, and you'll be happy you did. Quote Link to comment
monkbonk
Alright. I will stick with the Chevy. The guy with the International was kinda putting the pressure on to commit to the trade, and that unsettled me on it's own. The poor gas mileage is disconcerting too. The owner even admitted that it only got around 8mpg. eww Quote Link to comment

Z-train
A 460 is far from a dog. One of the cheapest ways to make HP.Having said that,460 owners usually buy a fuel truck to follow them around. Quote Link to comment
