datzenmike
What's Jesus got to do with Peeps and Chocolate Bunnies? Christian religions integrated with pagans by co-opting their primitive rites. What better way to move them out and move yours in? If I started my own religion this is what I'd do too. Someone did their homework back then. Spring... the celebration of re-birth as typified by the prolific breeding ability of rabbits and the egg from which we all spring. Christmas.... the winter solstice and the beginning of the new year. 1 Quote Link to comment
VFR800
One of the only (less violent) ways to get the "Pagans" to convert was to basically not interrupt their rituals and rites. Quote Link to comment

Exactly, the Germanic "barbarians" and the vikings didn't take too well to being told what to do, ask the Greeks, and the romans. 1 Quote Link to comment

hobospyder
dude either way they're huge, i've seen goldens up close-ish at the zoo and balds in trees. i think the head on the golden i saw was about the size of the head on the great dane i had a few years back (she was a puppy) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I can say without hyperbole, "I see them every day" around here. They can and will carry off small dogs and cats. I had to pick up a live (although stunned) one once from the highway he was blocking. It's common for them defend territory by grabbing talons and death circle towards the ground in an aptly named game of 'chicken' This old fellow had bounced off the ground and was dazed. We put a sack over his head, but I was terrified. The head is about the size of your fist. Quote Link to comment
