 Not sure where you got the week trans theory.

The 1st generation had teething pains . They were corrected years ago.

The current 700R-4 is the go to system for most Chevy builders.

  Your going to need the overdrive to end up with any semblance of economy with that set up. 

The added weight of the v-6 and the tranny T-case weight are the big disadvantage to that system.

BUT it is ultra reliable and well supported.

Not a huge HP gain for the added weight. But plenty of torque.

yea this is really the perfect balance of power and weight for my application. i will have a motor update asap, i have been busy fixing the floor and i didn't have a camera. 

 Now I wouldn't  go that far.....

yea...i have gone to 3 different auto parts stores, tried 2 different mounts from summit, and gone to a pick and pull all resulting in nothing usable for motor mounts. i really don't want to shell out the $110 that the trans dap motor mounts cost so im just gonna take [2eDeYe's idea and make my own out of some poly bushing i have. more updates on that soon. i also decides to use a turbo 400 because the 700r4 is really hard to find in my area and the only t cases they come with are the wrong side drop.

I was wondering when you were going to figure that out...

We went over all of this earlier in this build.
