Just Personal Interest really. Think i heard that if your Car is over a certain amount of Years (dont know how long) its not Illegal Because the Mileage is Suggested Unknown or something like that..idk. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
in no way shape or form should you find the end to an old speedo cable, put it in a drill, and advance your odometer. ;) Quote Link to comment

RedBanner
You can dissasemble, and set to 000000. Reassemble. The nissan fsm for your specific ride should cover disassembly 1 Quote Link to comment
Boaty
I watched somebody do this just to roll it over. 50K miles I do believe. They did it with a dremel tool, and after a couple of days - they gave up and did that Redbanner said, but I think he broke it in the process. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
i only had to push it 5k before it rolled over, but if you can disassemble it i would go that route :) It did take me a few days Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Using a drill takes a LONG freaking time. If it read 50,000 miles and you spun it at 100MPH by the gauge, it'd take 500 hours. Or almost 21 days. Odometer tampering is illegal, irregardless of the age. The odometer is not meant to read engine mileage. If you want that, add an hour meter like they do for forklifts and other commercial equipment. It's a more accurate measure of engine age anyway. It's true that odometer disclosure isn't required after 10 years, but if you want to track it just add the curent miles in your log book. What, you don't have a log book? I admit, I only have log books for a couple cars. Keep forgetting to put them in the others. Now, I've "reset" odometers to read what the old one read after the speedo broke. But I've always either straight-matched or best-guessed the additional miles. The hard part is not losing all the tiny parts and getting the wheels aligned properly, otherwise they get half-spaced. I'm BLUE
Why !? Keep a record ... write maintenance down at that mileage Easy as that. Odometer's are one of those things that should remain un-touched. It's part of the character of the car to say the least Quote Link to comment
DAT510
What if I want to reset my odometer to 00,666? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Connect to router, spin at 56k rpm. my dremel only spins at 35k. Quote Link to comment
INDY510
. Are 620 speedo's really that hard to find? . I bet someone has one about to roll over in a truck that actually drives instead of using a dremel/drill .. 3 Quote Link to comment
