Skulptr
To attempt to prevent the 20 more that are on the way after this one. Won't help, the search button is still "broken" lol Quote Link to comment
SHORTDOG
They look good! The only problem i see is...it's obvious that the seat belt mechanism doesn't work with the Nissan belts so what do you do there? It looks to me like you have both in the picture, is there a way to remove the Rodeo one? Also, if anybody in the So. Cal. area has a set of Rodeo seats that they don't like and want to trade for Original 720 buckets...I'm game! I like the 720 seats but want more comfort. Quote Link to comment
Skulptr
i used the rodeo belts. everything bolts right in place of the 720 belts like it was meant to be... Quote Link to comment
MaddieCycle
Old thread, I put a '99 Dodge Neon front passenger seat into my 1986 KC on the passenger side. It was a bit of a pain because since this is a seat that will ideally remain connected to the floor in the event of a crash, I did not want to cut corners. 1) Lined up the neon seat as best as possible. You can get 3 of the 4 holes to line up if you set it just right. 2) Instead of reaming out the hole in the 4th tab on the Neon seat, I drilled a new hole through the floor and plugged the old one. 3) Got some grade 8 and 10.9 hardware M8 nuts and 2 inch bolts, multiple increasing size grade 8/10.9 washers to be wide enough to have solid bearing on the Neon seat tabs, but also enough bearing on the bolt flanges. 4) Had to use chaser taps to clean some of the threads. One of the front threads stripped so I used an M8 nut behind the oem welded nut. 5) Installed the 2 remaining OEM bolts, then the last bolt with a nut and washer on the underside of the truck. Solid, safe, and the Neon seat is really comfortable, sits a little higher than stock. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I had Neon seats in my 720 but didn't like that they were higher, it felt funny, mine bolted right in to all four holes, but I used fender washers on the inside as the holes in the seat rails were very large. Quote Link to comment
Angeldust720
Have you tried putting 300zx seats in? I heard their really comfortable in the truck and their like 200 bucks at the junkyard. Im saving for some manual seats because also heard electric seats have clearance issues for underseat computer, can anyone send me pictures of that kind of swap? Thanks Quote Link to comment
MaddieCycle
I did not find any 300zx seats at the Pick N Pull. As far as fender washers, were you able to find them grade 8/10.9? I wanted to stick with the high strength grade steel fasteners used to secure seats. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Grade 8 is total overkill. Ordinary bolts will pull out of the floor before they will break. And they won't pull out of the floor if wearing a seat belt. Quote Link to comment

Thanks 300zx seats will work, but you’ll have to do some fab work. If you make the seats level, the motors clear fine on the power seats. But they are heavy seats. free online image hosting 1 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Those seats look good but if you are tall will have (clearance issues). 1 Quote Link to comment
IZRL
Sounds like 99ish Rodeo seats are the seats that are truly a straight swap for 720s. Sounds like the front of these seats sit a bit too low. Has anyone successfully modified/raised these seats from the front? I'm on my way to phx AZ and I'm considering picking a couple up if I can find them. Quote Link to comment

The other option is corbeau makes seat brackets that will work with their seats or I believe cj5 and maybe cj7 seats. I have a pair of the Baja I believe xrs seats that are reclining suspension seats and the only problem is if your are on the taller side and your height is not in your legs the Baja seats sit too high and will put your head against the ceiling. I do believe the brackets can be cut down a inch but I have not tried since the only people who have had issues sitting in the truck are my dad who is 6ft and my friend who is 6 2 1 Quote Link to comment

I stand 6'2" and rodeo seats put my head into the headliner. Thanks for adding this. I'm the same height and I need a seat swap so you probably saved me from wasting a bunch of time and a little money. I made a custom seat for my 84 720 out of a seat from a cargo van or something. Had to chop it 7 ways from Sunday and weld the pieces back together to make it fit. But in the end I decided a single seater bucket with open floor beside it wasn't the best look and it still had me too close to the dash my knees would rub getting in and out how that made that bench fit in there with room to sit is beyond me. So now I'm back on the bench despite having stripped the upholstery and having to replace the seat wires (which I did a fair job of but not quite as good as the original factory) added some foam to cushion some prickly spots and covered with a couple of blankets woven in a native/meso American style so I'd love a nice factory upholstered seat that would slide in there unmodded Quote Link to comment

You can put the rodeo seats on the 720 seat bases and then the height is not a problem. I am 6'2.5" and I don't have any issues at all. 1 Quote Link to comment

None_zero
That's sweet, nicely done. But would that work in a regular cab?it looks like they take the whole king cab to fit Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
There is plenty of room behind them but I have no idea how they would fit in a regular cab. I thought most of the regular cabs are bench seats? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
My info shows bench seats available in all 720s. You can get bucket seats in King Cabs and Cab Chassis/Heavy Duty. As the Cab Chassis is a regular cab, buckets should fit all 720s. I think. Buckets seats were only available in the '76.5-'79 King Cab 620s I don't think there were bench seats for it. frankendat
I like the seats out of early 300zx, they fit. The late 300zx seats will most likely work as well, I prefer the headrests on the early. Madkaw has them in his regular cab 720 I just saw all this has already been covered in this thread Edited April 18 by frankendat Quote Link to comment
