wayno
wayno i can ask but its going to be rhd steering box :/ I am looking for a 720 RHD power steering gear/steering box, I can likely make one if I have to, but it will be a pain, I can get a regular 720 RHD steering gear/box from people I know in Australia, but it's starting to look like they did not make a RHD 720 power steering gear/box. I am just covering all the bases here, I have asked around in Australia and New Zeland so far, have not connected to anyone in Europe so far. Quote Link to comment

mrbigtanker
So took the green beast out for a joy ride today. Got on the freeway up to 100 mph drove it a little more and it's doing ok. It seems though I do have a noisey timing chain and it was common so will research this further Quote Link to comment
datson4life
Mine finally goes 100+ too I have a thousand rattles to take care of tho 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
timming chain dont make much noise. its the slack that makes noise. or the tensioer coked or worn out. Or the stat housing bolt too long grinding the chain. rocker arms can make noise if loose. 1 Quote Link to comment
earlyvws
Just trying to catch up on everyone that's been posting in my thread. First off I LOVE UR TRUCK. (Is calling it truck an acceptable term). Ok now for the really stupid questions from the newbie, 1. What is the deal with the yellow headlights. I like the look, but don't know what's behind it. 2. How do u turn on the yellow headlights (or in my case the regular inner ones) Either mine where not working before I tore it apart or I never found the switch. 3. What are the inner headlights (high's?) Now back to ur truck. Is it OG paint (green one) what color is that called? I like the patina look (at least that's what we call OG paint vws, however that term gets stretched a little far sometimes). It has a lot of character something u can't achieve with a full resto. 1 Quote Link to comment

mrbigtanker
Dato4life,I love you but the rattle can get a little old. Banzai, yes thanks I will look in to it further, there's also some Mazda fix for this. Earlyvw, thank you the lights are from guy Daniel stern they are internal yellow,I will snap a photo for you with them on,they are bright and all the lights come on at the same time, and as for the paint yes it is the originally green I am the second owner of this truck and I don't know what the paint code is. Only thing left I want to do is redo the bed skirts 4 link the rear and NOS for fun,and then pull apart and body and paint. Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Should either be bamboo tan (doubtful) 130 or 529 Or Cactus green 104 If this 510 is indeed cactus green I'm going with option number 2: http://bringatrailer.com/2013/10/23/seller-submission-clean-1971-datsun-510-roller/ Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
It's green. Quote Link to comment
