goonfan
Hell yeah! Thanks! Im glad you picked one up so now its easier to work on your Z. No prob just let me know! Once I have some more skills I'm planning to offer my time up to local Ratsun guys, in kind favors of course. I'm talking aluminum manifolds, headers, IC piping and the like. I can already do most other things fairly well, not a pro by any stretch though. Link to comment
Tristin
Good to know! Well I had a package arrive yesterday with another new fun addition to the car... It wont go on for a little bit, but will have it installed prior to Canby. Hopefully I will be picking up my freshly powdercoated rims tomorrow and whenever I get tires for them will more-than-likely mount everything the same day. Theres 1 month, 1 week, and 5 days until I have to head down to Oregon... and I still have a bit to do. I better get my ass in gear. At least I have a running Datto, which seems to be more than a few others. So little time!- so little money! Link to comment

I KNOW it's around here somewhere since I did take a pic of it before. I hope I find it once I finally clean up all my Datsun stuff. :P Link to comment

71DIMER
^^ damn Phil, I'll try not to do that while your emblem is on. Actually I'm pulling it off tomorrow and right now it's safe and sound on my grille in a secured parking lot. :) Link to comment
Tristin
Dang... well I dont plan on doing that to the grille. I just want a Deluxe emblem to complete my trim level :( Link to comment

Tristin
Just a few little issues with the car. It seems that I didnt fix the carb issue like I thought... Im back to pulling the choke out some to keep it going. Its really random though, because sometimes that kills the engine and sometimes it keeps it going. Other times I have a decently high idle it seems. I dont know whats wrong with it now. Ive also got some dieseling it seems, which goes from just a bit on shutdown to quite a bit. Lastly, I feel like I should be getting better efficiency while Im commuting to work. Im sure that all the issues are probably related, but the little troubleshooting with Ls have yielded me nothing. Im still better off than most, so I cant complain too much. Went to Jack-in-the-Box for lunch yesterday: Hopefully my rims get down soon as I really need new tires for the car. I had to stop abruptly the other day and I went for a 10ft slide... I checked the tread and Im retardedly low. With how wet this place is, having close to bald tires cant be safe. Since I get get my original tires in the sizes I will need, whats everyones thoughts on whitewalls for the SSRs? I dont think Ive ever seen a set of WWs on wheels that werent steelies/hubcaps. Thoughts? Link to comment
INDY510
Meh ...... I liked the aero wheels with hub-caps idea better ....... ........ those 15x8's won't fit anyways ..... haha ..... are they positive offset 15x8's??? Link to comment
Tristin
Well the Aero and caps are only Winter rims, but Im having trouble refinishing the caps the way I want them. Masking the circular pattern has been a bit of a trick for me. And yes they are positive off-set. I have no worries these will fit, they have been installed on a 510 before. I have been thinking about just saying fuck it, and having these rebarreled even bigger, then run flares. I dont really use the backseat much. It would give me more dish while fixing the rash and bends. I dont know, will probably be a future item. I just want to put them on first haha. Ive also thought about getting rid of these and just running new tires with a smaller sidewall. It would get a bit lower and I wouldnt be rubbing anywhere. An 80 sidewall is a little ridiculous IMHO. Ive talked about trying to keep it as original as possible, but it seems my tastes are changing a bit. Ive been wanting to get a little more into it lately...I bought an external oil cooler for a decent price, so Im going to mount that and see how I like it. I havent figure out if Im going to run the hoses hidden through the apron, a short length boso look, or go fulll boso and route them longer. Theres a like a billion pieces in the kit I picked up to allow any route possible, so Im gathering up the pieces to see what I want to do. Link to comment

Hell, they are tough to get period these days... Digging for pic now.... Link to comment

Tristin
Anths car is in the way haha hmmm I do really like the WWs. Im going to see if I can source out an acceptable pair for the SSRs I have. Thanks John... I can always count on you. Link to comment
Duke
I personally vote against the white walls, but if you do decide to go that route, you might have a look into having some whitewalls made. If you find a tire with white lettering there is a machine that can grind away the sidewalls to reveal the layer of white rubber. I can almost guarantee that is how the white walls on the escort were made. 1 Link to comment

I think you can still get the BFG Radial T/A in a 510-friendly size with white letters. Link to comment

I know some old hot rodders so it by hand, but I didnt know there was a machine that did it for you. I might have to look into that. Im not sure where any lowrider shops are up here, but I can sure look around. It at least gives me a place to start. I seem to be developing quite a chassis shake at about 35pmh. If I slow down or speed up to get off that speed, Im good. But right aroung 35mph the whole car shakes like crazy. Link to comment
