Got to play in the woods last weekend, felt great to be out in the woods.

Truck did great other than needing a new battery cable (too small) and heating up a bit on the super long steep climbs. Needs some more cooling for those situations.

This thing is coming inside for some work

On the list is a head gasket replacement.

I happened to just wrap up getting this head prepped for Beercan, but will save tome using it on Green.

Had a small issue before I get started though.

why would the valves get bent by just starting the motor?

Unless somebody totally timed the motor wrong when putting the chain in

my 521 has been up that road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cant believe the shop did take that plug out?

Was this Autopsort that did the work? Price????

I had one head once the threads widen ed out out on one cylinder it would always back off after awhile and had to always screw it back in

Makes me wish GoPros were around when I was running all the trails around Telluride and Ouray. 😎

Yep, newbie timing chain mistake makes for cheap parts for me. 🙂

I took the plug out, the shop wouldn't touch it lol.

Local shop did the valve job.

There at the last photo, you are running the wagoneer front axle?  What are the specs of the wheels/tires/offset, if you recall that you are running?   Going wagoneer axles front and rear on my quad cab build is one of the suspension options I'm considering, but I want to avoid massive poke of the tires.

Which photo? lol

The Wagoneer 44 axle is 62” WMS to WMS

The wheels I run are 15 x 8 standard toyota/chevy offset. Can measure my other set tomorrow.

Edit. The last pic in the video is just before cutting off the dana 30

for steelies? are they insane?

That’s what I thought too. I’m seeing them on eBay for about $100 each. Not bad.. was hoping I could scrounge up a set at the yard for pennies though.

Thanks for the quick response.  I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.  I love me some dish on rims, but since that just makes the truck wider....  Modern Chevy 6 lug all have pretty high offset, but i would rather stick to 16" or 15" inch rims for this build.  Who knows.  This is all theoretical nonsense until I actually start on the chassis side, and thats gonna be a while yet.

I've long enjoyed this thread.  Cool to see the history of the truck.
