haubstr
I thought that I would give an update on the truck my dad and I have been working on for a little over a year now... I missed the first pictures (forgot the camera) of what it looked like when we went and picked it up... This was about a week later... We didn't waste any time starting the body work and tearing it a part... Little easier to pressure wash this way... A quick rattle can paint job on the frame... A little Hurculiner in the cab and bed... Quote Link to comment
haubstr
More Pic's... This is the engine going in... Getting ready to set in the frame... L20B, Bored .40, low compression pistons, A87 open chamber, Dogleg 5-speed, Roadster clutch... Cab on and initial color painted... Getting it reassembled for the rest of the paint... Initial turbo setup... Interior getting done... Turbo got new piping... 4 Quote Link to comment

Elkie
Is that moss green color? Think thats the color I picked out for my 521 project. Looks great though! 2 Quote Link to comment
CharlieBucket
Nice set-up! All custom? Did you guys design/make the kit? beautiful truck as well, i would have been inpressed with the build if you just slapped a weber on there. the turbo really steps it up!! 2 Quote Link to comment
haubstr
Skunk ... As soon as we get the spark problem figured out/fixed I will put up a video Elkie... I don't know if it is considered moss green, but it started out that way and then my dad had the paint mixer add the darker color in it... The funniest thing that people are going to laugh at is that my dad sprayed the truck in the driveway... lol Charliebucket... The turbo itself was pulled out of a 60's corvair, sent back east for a complete rebuild, and all of the piping work was done by a local hot rod builder... and by the way, all we did was slap on a stock 32/36... lol 2 Quote Link to comment

Elkie
Painting in the driveway ain't to bad, I paint motorcycles in a pop up tent that I attach a filtered fan to. I'll have to figure out another way for the pickup. The biggest problem painting outside is bugs always land on it. 1 Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
I would ck the valve lash. then see if your hot start(12volt on start) wire is also shorted to the Blk/wht wire. This might help Most likely on 521s it already has 2 wiress in the lug.One can just make a jumper wire where the ballast was and hook up to the lug that has the 2 wires in it to the coil. Nice turbo set up!!!!!!!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
bertvorgon
I sent a PM to you on the 510realm site. Sometimes with a draw through system, when things are cold, and long runs, fuel drops out, making a nice homogonous mix hard to get at idle. As I said in the PM, fuel pressure is critical on a 32/36, along with float level. looks ok though, will just take some fine tuning to get it running well. Read my PM, and then ask away, glad to help if I can. Keith 1 Quote Link to comment
haubstr
I guess it is time for an update. Ended up buying the truck off of my dad about a year or so ago. Been stuck at home because of the Corona so I have been rounding up the photos from the last year. https://www.flickr.com/photos/21332897@N07/50091291943/in/dateposted-public/ Got tired of figuring out the turbo setup so the first thing I did was take it off. It ran a lot better after that. https://www.flickr.com/photos/21332897@N07/50092110462/in/dateposted-public/ Drove it around for about a week and decided to swap. I pulled the L20B/5-speed and sold all of it with the turbo 2 Quote Link to comment
