Haubstr's Dad's 521

Recommended Posts

I thought that I would give an update on the truck my dad and I have been working on for a little over a year now...

I missed the first pictures (forgot the camera) of what it looked like when we went and picked it up... This was about a week later...

Skunk ... As soon as we get the spark problem figured out/fixed I will put up a video

Elkie... I don't know if it is considered moss green, but it started out that way and then my dad had the paint mixer add the darker color in it... The funniest thing that people are going to laugh at is that my dad sprayed the truck in the driveway... lol

Charliebucket... The turbo itself was pulled out of a 60's corvair, sent back east for a complete rebuild, and all of the piping work was done by a local hot rod builder... and by the way, all we did was slap on a stock 32/36... lol

Painting in the driveway ain't to bad, I paint motorcycles in a pop up tent that I attach a filtered fan to. I'll have to figure out another way for the pickup. The biggest problem painting outside is bugs always land on it.

  • 1 month later...

I sent a PM to you on the 510realm site.

Sometimes with a draw through system, when things are cold, and long runs, fuel drops out, making a nice homogonous mix hard to get at idle.

As I said in the PM, fuel pressure is critical on a 32/36, along with float level.

looks ok though, will just take some fine tuning to get it running well.

Read my PM, and then ask away, glad to help if I can.

I guess it is time for an update. Ended up buying the truck off of my dad about a year or so ago. Been stuck at home because of the Corona so I have been rounding up the photos from the last year.

Got tired of figuring out the turbo setup so the first thing I did was take it off. It ran a lot better after that.

Drove it around for about a week and decided to swap. I pulled the L20B/5-speed and sold all of it with the turbo
