He said put that one on it.
He says it belongs there for full stroke of the pump.
And if it is not there your no getting full pressure from the pump.

This is a true statment : Pump once the carb if full the arm on the pump will go limp. pump it by hand first before installeing and you can fell it.

I have never run a return line on all my datsuns. using webers.

I think the pump might last longer as it doesnt push in the diapram all the time at it full stroke. But this is just my opinion Not positve. It diaphrame cracks could suck gas into crankcase

yes use a spacer. reck the pump ar hope it not bent to bad.

Roger!

My uncle doesn't say much to me until I ask him about Datsuns.

I was finally able to break the speed limit again!
Hahaha!

I just finished removing the return line from the car.
Also put on the spacer.

I also found the secondary was open about a 1 mm!
We will see if that helps with the mileage.
But first thing in the morning, I will be at discount imports.
Going to jet this thing right!
It is jetted for a L-20B.

Maybe I can get it tuned right with what's in there.
But 30 bucks in jets may cost me a lot less at the pump.

Okay, I don't know what happened to the last post!

But changed a couple wires between the distributor and the coil!

Car is running even better than before!

I am in search of a replacement bottom of the distributor.
Mine cracked right at the bolt to tighten it.
I have a clamp there now.
That looks like a have to fix thing.
I will make some calls and maybe write a few PM's!

After removing the return line.
With a straight line to the carb from the fuel pump!

Resetting the electric choke.

Closing the secondary, because it was holding it to 1 mm open.
Replacing the thermostat gasket.

Putting the fuel pump spacer in.

Re tuning the carb again.

I can saw the car is running much better!

Yeah!
Guess what, the carb secondary being open kept me from being able to adjust my air mixture screw!
Hot damm!
Now I know, for sure.  I need new and lower idle jets!

I am 2 1/2 turns out on it.
Manual says no more than 1 1/2!

I found some info on my trans, which confirms what I can see under the car!

Well that narrows it down to two.

FS5W71B. Could be from a 620 truck, first year 720 truck, 280z, 280zx or 810/Maxima. They are 31.5" long, and have a front and rear aluminum case sandwiching a 1" thick steel adapter plate between them. There will be at least one reverse lights switch in the front case just above and behind the clutch arm. The front case is heavily ribbed and inside the bell housing the cover plate is held on with 5 bolts.

5 speed under the car.

5 Speed in the jack and two bolts in to hold it in place. The tranny plate moved a 1/16 of an inch so I had to loosen and rock it one or twice to get all the bolts in!

Hello all!

Yesterday, I took her for a spin down to Stafford road and back.

I have great news!

All in one piece!

Purpose:

To see how the motor responded to me, and how the car responded to the road.
- - - - - - - - - - - -  - - - - - - - -  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - -

I started the car in the driveway. I let it idle for 3 mins.
That is all it took to bring her to temperature.

Getting out of my neighborhood, is some what of a pain sometimes.
I made a left onto 82nd. Had the green light all the way to the on ramp to 205 south and got her up to 55 mph and didn't even sputter.

Got onto 205,traffic was going pretty good. About 65 mph.

Car felt solid on the road, positive steering feel. Tracking was good.

I noticed the road noise is higher, on the rough part of the road.
Which all of you know is high in a 45 year old car.

So I am now heading up hill headed to West Lin exit.
I pushed her. it was like she was ready for a race up hill.
Funny thing is I don't remember shifting down to 3rd.
Normally I have too!
I was going up hill doing 60 and it didn't sound like it was going to blow up.

I got excited!
Oh Fucking yeah!

I had had problems with brakes before needing to double pump.

I wanted to make sure, I knew they were working. And HOW!

So, I tapped the brakes and I felt them grab.
I remember last year running with a friend on the back roads, I had brake fade.
So I did a pad change and a fluid change with some dot 6 stuff.
Well that helped!
Going down the long hill, into the back of West Linn.
I had my foot on the brake most of the time.
No fade!
So now I needed to cool them brakes off.

Two slow curves thru the trees, headed to Stafford road.

I love to section of the freeway. It is the gateway to a nice run.
I got up to 70 and holding, There is like 3 cars on the damm rode.

Hehehehe!

I said screw this is something starts acting funny. I can pull over before Stafford road.
I pushed the pedal to the floor.

Engine sounded right. She kept pulling.
90mph, I was going!

Okay!

I need to check a few things.
How does the car feel and what kind of control I have at this speed!
The car didn't feel light, wasn't bouncing on the road.
I put my blinker on and changed lanes.
Nothing wrong there.
Awesome! I got a half mile before the exit.
I down shifted from 5th to 4th and pushed to pedal to the floor again.
With in 10 secs or so I was cracking the 100 mph mark.
Hehehehe.
I thought oh but my speedometer is 5 mph low at this speed!

Shit the exit is coming up fast.

Time to use those dam good working brakes!

I didn't brake 100 mph, but 98 is good for me!

I pulled over once I made the switch form south bound to north bound.
Had a little smoke and headed home.

One the way back it was just cruising.
I don't think I went over 65 mph the whole ride back.

Since your mostly going up hill and coming to four major on ramps it is not as safe to be going faster!

Next trip to Fry's we will see.

Have to check the traffic map and mount my phone on the dash.

But I say the car is now ready for me to drive it where I want.

Thanks for reading!

Waiting for my bumps steer spacers to finish being made.
I ordered 3 sets, all different sizes.
Someone asked about a set.
So I had his set thrown in with mine.

1", 1.25" 1.50"
After that off to get it aligned.

Now that my tires are riding right the tires a showing better and more even wear.
I am sure once I get, the spacers.

I don't know if I should get all new bushing just yet.
But that is on my list next!

Also looking for a back door card, Hatch back card.
I don't know what the hell to call it.

The one that goes here.
