Eagle_Adam
I got pulled over last night by our local sheriffs office, once he had run my license, registration, and insurance he cameback and told me i had no license plate light  and i dont. My dumbass forgot to reinstall it when i took off the ugly ass rear bumper  Sooooooo now i need to fix the issue before this wonderfull run in happens again. Has anybody installed non-stock lights for their license plate light? I dont have the origonal one anymore. Ideas? im open to hear them :D Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
They have those plate mounting bolts w/ LEDs in em. I think you can get them at any Vato-Zone or Schmucks(Oops, excuse me; O'Reilly's) Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
The license plate light is at the top of the stock mount. It is not attached to the bumper, it's attached to the bottom of the bed. Might need to clean the lense and put in a new bulb. ;) Quote Link to comment

Eagle_Adam
]2eDeYe - the license plate light was attached to the bumper when i bought the truck, and i just double checked that i didnt make another dumbass move  Laeconon - as entertaining as that would be i think it might piss off the judge when i have to go to court for my "fix it ticket" in two weeks :P Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The light might have been on the bumper, but the factory put it under the bed, above the factory plate frame. Of course someone could have moved it, the '75 I recently shed had the original light mounted on the bumper (which did little good except make it clear that it had a plate light) Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Just use a Datsun pickup license plate lamp: Quote Link to comment
ppeters914
What's the part number, Dave? Pic too small to read clearly. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Just meant to illustrate how simple it can be. These are from Datsun 1200 (coupe or pickup) part number 26510-H1000. Other Datsuns may use something similar. It doens't need to be on the bumper. Quote Link to comment
Paul G.
I'd go with something like this. I just did a quick Google shopping search for "license plate light bolts." I have a set of those (purchased at a local shop) but since i haven't been hassled about my Manx buggy not having the plate lighted I haven't bothered to install them. Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
So here is what I found in the box-O-random shit in my dads garage, should do just fine :) Those work just fine ,,, have them on my Ranger ,,, BUT ---> The china made ones lasted longer than the taiwan made ones   Quote Link to comment
wade
I just went thru this. The round light a few comments up could go thru a hole in the top of the plate that holds the license plate. Single wire, self ground. The earlier comment is also on track. As I took off my bumper with the round light as shown above, I discovered the fixed light mounted up and under the taligate. It too is single wire, thus easy to hook up. For pics, dig this link: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/29393-license-plate-and-light/ good luck Quote Link to comment

ramrod
Ha, I just bumped this instead of starting a new topic -- I need to replace my bulb to avoid the same fate (I've been pulled over before for this) - and I can't figure out how to open the enclosure to replace the bulb.
