nismo dr
I chuckle every time I hear someone complaining about having to do a head gasket or timing chain on a L motor, thought I'd show you a head gasket job on 2009 Murano. once you get the cowl and all the plastic covers off - you can see that, yes, there is an engine in there let me get this piece of metal out of the way Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
just a couple more bolts Quote Link to comment

nismo dr
normally I'd be flat rating it and not even think about taking pics, but my parts won't be here till tuesday, so I went very leisurely at it Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
My 1972 has never had the head gasket changed, do I need to do it now before it becomes unreliable? I'ts my daily driver so I don't wanna get stranded. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
The guide is in my owner's manual, but it doesn't give a schedule for replacing the head gasket. I see that the newer Nissans are not neccesarily more reliable... Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Holy shit man! What's that job payin hour wise? With it being warrentee, it can't be all that good.... Quote Link to comment
nismo dr
well the heads are warped so with cylinder head replacement/overhaul, plus a couple broken studs that had to be extracted, I will get around 17-19hrs standard/customer pay book time is 28.8 Quote Link to comment
d510addict
That looks pretty rough, but try my subaru gl-10 turbo. Had to pull entire motor, then seperate all the turbo pieces and heat sheilds, pulled front half of motor off (timing pulleys/covers). Its ludecris that a 1987 should take soo much work to replace head gasket.....................and then find out that subaru cut major corners and made the heads soo fragile that it is just about impossible to find non cracked heads to replace my 2 un-repairable heads. But seriously I'm glad I'm no mechanic that would drive me nuts. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
It's crazy. But the easiest head gasket I've ever done was on my brother's '91 Corsica. I can't explain it, but it was super simple even though it LOOKS complicated. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
Last spring I had to replace the head gaskets on my Ford Aerostar, with the 4.0 L engine. It was about 40 steps, with notes, of stuff moved out of the way, until I could get to valve covers, and lower intake manifold. And this was a pushrod engine. Quote Link to comment

nismo dr
just put a new motor in it if you have to go that far into it... geez.. bare heads $675 each pile of gaskets, thermostat, hardware, fluids, etc probably around $300-500 when all said and done long engine assy - $8,000 you could have a quite a career as a warranty clerk if you could talk a claims administrator into buying the motor Quote Link to comment
Dirk Diggler
To change the headlight bulbs on my 09 altima I had to remove the entire front bumper and grill, then each headlight. Ridiculous. Side note, my altima coupe doesn't have the headlight adjustment screws where the sedans have them, any idea where these are? Quote Link to comment

HRH
Step 1: Collect underpants. Step 2: ? Step 3: Profit! I think that works just about as well as that stinky Murano mess as far as what they were thinking when they built it. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBiSI6OdqvA Quote Link to comment
