Sealik
I'm assuming clamping force is different than torque capacity....? The one I linked is rated at 319 ft-lbs. And you know...it is Full Organic......'Grown' in Japan.... :P Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Hmmmmmm....I don't think ever posted which truck the LZ23 was going in...... This one..... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Even with the clutch fully engaged if enough torque is forced through a PP it will slip. The higher clamp force the better. If 319 ft lbs is engine torque that's lots probably twice what you need. Quote Link to comment

Sealik
Made the 200+ km trek to the 'big city'.......dropped off the block, head, crank, flywheel and the new parts. Guess there's no turning back now......LZ23...here we come  Was 500 bucks for the block...until he looked at the wear on the connecting rod bearings. Have to re-size.....17 bucks a pop. That included hot tanking, boring, magnaflux testing, polishing the crank, pressing the connecting rods onto the new pistons and assemble the bottom end. The head is about 275....that included....pressure testing and a 3 angle valve job. Can't remember how they clean the head.....something-peaning.....??? Probably around..........1000 bucks.....by the time everything is said and done. If he calls within a day....something is amuk.....and the cost will definitely be going up. Valve guides.....springs...etc...etc could be due for upgrading......crank looked good, but.... who knows. :) Should be ready on Friday.... Ka......ching. Quote Link to comment

I'm thinking just a bell housing swap???? Then I don't have to deal with a long tail tannie install Would have to change the console...propeller shaft..etc...etc...just keep the 26.5 inch length. The L20B will have the smaller counter shaft bearing opening.....of course.....to utilize in the pre (?) 85 trannie. Which I have....also :) I think..... .... Quote Link to comment

Sealik
Started cleaning up all the parts. Came out okay....good enough.....form over fashion. :D Will paint the brackets and tensioner. Need to make a plate for the right hand side of IM....and 'fit' the heat shield Used Loctite on all 8 bolts holding the Weber adapter plates Cam and lash pads was shipped from Shadbolt yesterday. Sealik
Cleaned the dizzy up and got the advance working. Also set the air gap. After I cleaned the TC cover... I noticed the previous...previous pump had started to wear the inside of the cover. There was a new 620 pump on it.....shall replace with the larger pump (tines) from the Z22 Hmmmmm......grinded the sharp edges off. Thinking it should be okay....? The difference in length. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Pretty sure Doug that the impellers are the same depth into the timing cover cavity. The pump cavity is deeper on the Z pumps allowing a larger impeller to be fitted. If there is wear in the timing cover then a pump with a wobbly bearing was likely the cause. L20B Z22/24 Do not get these cheap re-built POS blenders. . Quote Link to comment
Sealik
You are correct....Mike..........as always.... :D Anywho.....got the cam from Shadbolt today. The 'infamous' #449 grind.....Jaun Valdez is happy.....as I.... :) Specs on receipt are... *205 degrees duration @ .050" (256 degrees advertised) .327" cam lift .491" valve lift on 109 degree lobe C/L ....use with "New" or "As New" Rocker Arms. Lash pads are .150" Well....I do Know 1 of my rockers is NFG.....but Hmmmmm..all new rockers....???? Ka Ching? Quote Link to comment
Sealik
I'm gonna assume that the .150 lash pads are for new rockers....obviously Whereas worn rockers would increase lash pad size. I'll throw it together and see the 'wipe' pattern on the old rockers....??? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Get a sheet of glass that will fit in the sink for a smooth surface and some wet 1000/1500 sand paper and rock those stroke to remove the old 'wear' pattern. Machine shops charge big money to do the same with a belt sander.me Quote Link to comment
