Im in the process of rebuilding my sedan I have been extremely lucky in finding parts but its very rare to find what your looking for. Ive came across every body style so far Quote Link to comment
nismosilvia
Are the front lower control arms from the 81-84 810 the same as the first gen? Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
I doubt it. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
81-84 810 is a 910. True story. 1 Quote Link to comment
Z-train
I doubt it.Agreed.THe whole bleeping car changed in 81. Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
Yeah, I would assume that they dont work. Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
Are the front lower control arms from the 81-84 810 the same as the first gen? 280zx lower control arms will work though. Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
if 280zx will work, then so will maxima. they should be the samne. Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
The maxima is a completely different car from the 810 aside from the engine. Remember the 810 has been around since 1977 I'd like to think they passed some of the 810 suspension parts to the 280zx if not identical. The 280zx subframe will bolt right up on a 810 coupe, I basically have a whole write up for a 280zx rack & pinion steering to go into the 810 some welding and milling. 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
Yeah, The same is true for the 910/maxima though. Most all 280zx suspension parts are the same according to Mr. Freezy, who knows more than I. Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
Yes, I've seen people use the rear brakes on the S30's from the maxima good thing lots of parts are interchangeable. Quote Link to comment
nismosilvia
Damn reman complete control arms for the second gen are only 40bucks. Thats cheaper than peasing it all together Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
yeah second gen is where stuff gets cheap. First gen is where you have to struggle to find it! Nothing second gen will work though, front wheel drive from 85 on. Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
I cant remember what gen maxima but there was addco front sway bar that could be put as an upgrade on the 810. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The "Maxima" 910 is the same as the 2nd gen "810" 910 except for badging and trim. 1st Gen "810" is totally different. Gotta love Datsun marketing. Quote Link to comment

Gotta love Datsun marketing. Yeah we know that I think you and others have already made it pretty clear on top of me already knowing it before hand and I know what you mean maxima was badged differently the first two years (81-82) as the 810 "maxima I think they wanted to known it was like the 77-80 810 which was a zero gen in my eyes because of the drastic change they made. All that was mentioned was parts that can be used from the 81-84 maxima on the 77-80 810 as you can see that's how this topic got made because that second to last owner of my 810 had it. Anyone that says datsun 810 my first thought is 77-80 810 not the 81-82 810 maxima I just call all first gen maximas as they are considered just Maximas. Quote Link to comment
nismosilvia
http://m.ebay.com/itm/220824261050?nav=WATCHING&sbk=1 I was looking at how the ball joint bolts up etc and it looks identical to my car. I'm going to beaf up my originals like a guy did to his on hybrid by welding in support brackets for the sway bar mounts etc. My suspension is done so its all gotta come off anyhow Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
A large portion of Datsun LCAs are "interchangeable". There are two basic designs, one with a bolt going through the crossmember and the arm "inside" the crossmember (double-shear), and ones that have a "pin" sticking out one side of the crossmember and the LCA bolted to the end of it (single shear). If you stick with the same design, they should always bolt on. Some are different lengths than others (which is a cheap way to change camber), but they will "fit". Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
Yep. The 200sx has a lot of parts that will interchange with the 810 time to upgrade the parts! 1 Quote Link to comment
H5WAGON
Possible 810 purchase....owner of car says it will start but wont stay running, its a Automatic. What would possible issues be? I don't really know much more about the car...never messed with older EFI stuff. Quote Link to comment
H5WAGON
1st thing of hand, I guess is the Vacuum line from motor to the Transmission......or would car still stay running.? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Any one of the hundred vacuum lines. Check all the vacuum lines, the rubber tube between the throttle body and MAF, loose electrical connections, big vacuum line from intake to brake booster, fuel filter (good bet), etc... 1 Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
Could be old gas or fuel pump. Quote Link to comment
