I have been thinking about this for a while now and thought that it might be more efficient to get a "wish list" going instead of dragging everything down in the truck again. I have a fair bit of Roadster stuff that needs a new home and would rather bring it to Canby than deal with CL or Ebarf. The neighbor up the street a crap ton of early Z stuff that I could be talked into hauling down too. So if you guys have something that you need, let's get a list going to streamline the process. I spent way too much time the last couple of years wheeling and dealing parts and want to spend more time socializing and looking at cars this year instead. This should maybe be in the Classifieds Section but as far as I can tell, the ability to start a thread is dead and gone and is now just a one ad at a time format. No love for a reflector today at the yard. One very beat on 410 goon that doesn't have them and Howard would not sell me one off of the 411 today. He is under the illusion that someone is going to buy the whole car and wants to keep it as whole as possible. One of the best JY's left but the owner has to be caught at just the right time for some items. Last fall I got all the side markers off a 69 510 for $10 each. Go figure. I will try again next week when I go back for some door hinges for my truck.

I've got a couple of spare Roadster reflectors you can have or I can go see if there are any on the 411 in the junk yard across the river. They might still be on winter hours and closed until April 1st. Not sure but I need an excuse to run over there any way. Ping your contact info if you want the Roadster ones. Not perfect but good enough for a track car.

Get it and drive it stock. There is nothing wrong with the 1600/4 spd combo. They are both bomber units that are very trouble free and reliable. The 5 speed swap requires more than just a tranny. You need a 2000 backplate (thicker) a different drive shaft and shift fork and a different cross member. You can double up two 1600 backplates to get the right thickness as a last resort but that is pretty bush league.

Goat, I would love to but am going to Meadows in the morning to get some riding in. Snowboard season is winding down and I need to get some more days on my pass. I am hitting the garage when I get home and finishing up the dash install in the 2000, with any luck.

Pay it forward to some kid who wants to get into Datsuns. They will bite off more of a project than they can chew and it will be a parts car in no time. Problem solved.

Watch CL in your area. Rust free Roadsters pop up all the time. Easier to replace all the plastic bits than cut and patch rust. Look on 311s.org too if you are into these cars. Good Luck in your search.

Look real close at the pictures. See all that rust? What do you think the inside of the rockers, rear fenders and every exposed bolt under the car looks like? This car would be a never ending cycle of cutting and welding. And after you got it all and then painted it, you would be seeing rust again within the year. Parts car at best. I am about to cut up a matching numbers 66 that is in better shape than this car. A little bit torn about doing it but not too much. Every part will get reused or sold to put the "keeper" back on the road.

I am a Roadster guy, and a 1200 guy and soon to be a 510 guy. Trifecta! Not to mention an old Toyota truck and 67 Mustang guy. Ok, it is time to put down the dark and stormy's, so I must be a rum drinking guy on vacation too, guy.

The other fusible link is the ammeter in these cars. On the 70 it is shared with a couple of other gauges, stand alone on the low windshield cars. All the wiring diagrams are over on 311s.org in the tech wiki. They are easy to print our real big and then lay it over the windshield, print side in so that you can just sit in the car and mess with the wiring.
