  1. 1973 240Z Denver Colorado NOT MINE, but I did go to look at it. Pretty rusty for a Colorado car, will need rear wheel arches, rocker panels, but likely only minor patch work on the floors. Didn't look like the front end had ever been hit, nice straight frame rails. Car was only running on 5 cylinders, which could be as easy as a fouled spark plug OR as bad as a hole in the piston......?? Dash pad has minor cracks (it is NOT perfect as usual!). Originally a light green, but had a FULL respray in red before the guy bought it, still relatively presentable paint. Likely a $2000-2500 car. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4150168269.html
  2. I'll chime in to say that a big part of the problem when dealing with overseas manufacturers, is that the delivery schedules for product is very often delayed for various reasons.......a production hiccup, a delay in customs, or the manufacturers simply making promises that they can't keep. I saw this constantly in the British parts market! As a sales rep for a wholesale distributor, my customers only heard what I would tell them, but the delays were more often than not, due to the manufacturers issues. Because this is such a new endeavor for FutoFab, we should allow for some delays, as the ordering & delivery processes are fine tuned!
  3. Hey loungin112............are you trying to give me a heart attack!!?? Nah, that Coupe is located in OREGON, but it is listed here in Denver! I immediately grabbed my cell & keys, ready to go look at it!!!!!!!! :w00t:
  4. Crap, thanks ggzilla! :crying:
  5. Can anybody tell me if the 620 heater box complete assembly will bolt up to the 520/521? I've got a guy in Australia looking for one for his 520/521, and I have access to a really clean 620 assembly, but I have never taken these assemblies out before, thus don't even know if the mounting is the same? I think he's OK if the "style/design" is different, but we want to be absolutely sure that the assembly will bolt up to the firewall/bulkhead.
  6. Never seen a Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) costume.........nice!! Looks better stripped off.
  7. I grew up with MG's, don't currently own any, but still involved with them. The oil in the "dashpot" of the SU carbs has absolutely no way to get drawn into the carb throat........that is a myth. If you overfill it, the oil will simply squirt out of the tiny breather hole in the top of the cap (British SU's have this hole, I never looked at the Hitachi SU cap but assume it is there), when you stomp on the accelerator. I always knew when I overfilled, because there would be oil spot above each carb on the underside of my hood, and excess oil covering the dashpot lid/dome! Remove dashpot cap & rod, see the threads where the cap screws in? Fill oil level to the bottom of the threads. Moss Motors MG Triumph parts supplier in Goleta CA does sell a "dashpot oil", but we generally don't even use it. Any light weight oil will work, many have used ATF over the years. Think of it as a simple hydraulic action......the oil slows down the raising and lowering of the dashpot piston. No oil, the dashpot will slide right up, and right back down again. The lighter the oil, the quicker the dashpot will raise and lower. The heavier the oil (like 20/40 engine oil) the slower. The colder outside air temp, the viscosity of whatever oil you use "thickens", once the carbs get hot from the transference of the engine heat, the oil will "thin out". BUT, those are details that you shouldn't worry about on a street car, unless you have really mastered the fuel metering & balancing of the carbs etc etc, and you are down to the smallest tuning adjustments. I always ran whatever engine oil I was running in my engine! One of the best manuals out there is the Haynes Manual......very user friendly. The early issues were seperate for the Su's, Webers etc etc......the current issue has them all combined. Search "haynes su" on eBay for variations, or just buy this if you don't already have......... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weber-Zenith-Stromberg-SU-Carbs-Haynes-Manuals-Haynes-Haynes-New-Book-/181235672710?pt=US_Texbook_Education&hash=item2a327ce686#ht_1187wt_914
  8. Soak your fusebox and headlight relay assy in white vinegar overnight. I have always carefully pried open the relays BEFORE soaking, so the vinegar gets inside AND so it drains out! Also check ALL grounds in the wiring, especially all involved with the headlight system. Hope you have a wiring schematic! I also have a Haynes manual & heater cable available! PM again.
  9. Also, if the heater "temp" cable is not attached, I'd bet that the heater valve is stuck. Does the cable move freely? If the valve is stuck, don't try to force it, cuz it will very likely leak once you move it! The valve is a pain to get out without pulling the heater box assy, but it is possible. You will get coolant on the floor, so prepare for that! Buy a NEW Datsun 620 Pickup heater valve from the dealer (I use Riley @ Lynchburg Nissan in VA, but there are a few more dealership guys on the forum here that are also very helpful!), cuz the 510 valve is NLA/NLS, take apart & clean up your original valve, and use the internal guts of the 620 valve to rebuild yours.
  10. Nice find! My 71 4dr was that same blue! That fender damage is nominal.........hammer n dolly it out, and a light skim of bondo! You could get away with only having some primer up front, and leave the rest of the paint alone. You can find the mangled trim piece (aka eyebrow) used. If the replacement fender has a horizontal piece of trim running it's length, those were all "dealer installed" here in the States, not a factory part. Most were stick on, some were riveted/screwed on. If you really like the wheels & tires that are on the car now, then mod the body. If you don't, then please find something else that you like, cuz custom bodywork is harder than you think, and that looks like a really clean car! If you've got 280ZX front struts/brakes, and the front tires are rubbing, then the offset of those wheels is simply not right for the car.......the ZX struts should "narrow" the track/width by a small amount (compared to the original 510), thus gaining fender clearance. There are 2 or 3 nice looking 280ZX wheels that are often found really cheap, and of course plenty of other aftermarket wheels that were actually made for the RWD cars, just make sure to verify fitment! Good luck with the project!
  11. For the outside, scuff n paint is always the cheapest, but we used to sandblast & powdercoat tanks at one of the shops where I worked. For the inside of the tank, you can buy a kit to "seal" the inside, or pay for a specialist to do it.
  12. Hey Dizer! There are five guys listed in GJ, but not many posts between them, so may not still be around! Go to top tool bar, choose "members", choose "more search options", scroll down to "location", type in grand junction, then send a PM to see if they are still around. I am going to try to post under "EVENTS" whenever we get together here in Denver or COS, but at this point, not much going on until Spring 2014.......just got back 1/2 hr ago from PPIR in COS for a vintage race AND the last drift event for the season. Great day of racing & tire smoke!!
  13. If anybody takes pics, post here at will.................I don't take very many pics these days!
  14. Hangin' out with friends tonight, junkyarding tomorrow, Halloween party Sat night, then somehow getting up early for the 2hr drive down to Colorado Springs for the vintage race at PPIR. Gonna be a gooooood weekend.............

    510 question

Thanks for clarifying Mike! My 72 was a floor shift car, but I sold the trans and all of the parts to a guy in FL that wanted to put it in a Roadster for his wife! I told him that I didn't know if it would fit the Roadster, but he bought it anyway. Ahhhh, anything for love!!

    510 question

Whoa, I can't remember seeing that on my 72 auto car, but that was 5 yrs ago when I took that car apart! Something new on these cars all the time!
  17. Hey regional truck guys! Just got off email with a guy in Australia looking for a 520 heater box assembly. I do not know if it is the same as the 521, but I do have a pic of the inner firewall where it would mount. Either way does anybody have one that could bring it with them to the track on Sunday? I've already got some other parts sold to him, and he also needs this heater! Let me know!
  18. Yes Bob, we all know that you have a complete Miata drivetrain in yer Dot sun..................(is there a secret message in the pic?)
  19. I never had a set of the "snowflake" wheels, but they look cool, especially with the dark green & gold! I passed up a set at one of our local yards a few weeks ago on a Z-car, prolly should have bought 'em.............

    510 question

Hey Mike, can you clarify.......the linkage was on the drivers side of the column vs passenger side of the column, OR do you mean there was some sort of crossbar that went over to the passenger side of the car, then down to the trans??
  21. Can't wait to watch you tear it up and piss off the Porsche guys again!! hahahahaha
  22. A midwestern drag racing radio & TV advertisement would say (in a HUGE radio voice WITH echo/reverb) "SUNDAY, SUNDAY SUNDAY!! SUPER (something blah blah) SUNDAY!!!".......or something like that. It was great!! See you guys there!
  23. Hey Z or Bob, where is this VIP lot? I've never been a VIP, ever, anywhere so (and only been to PPIR once)............ Link to the RHD 120Y http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4142633969.html. The owner might bring it down.
  24. Might have a RHD 1975 120Y (B210) show up..........it's listed on CL now!
  25. Love the color, love the patina! Great build!!
