  1. Wow, nice build, GREAT truck to start with, especially the family history! I've been holding out on buying a 620, for "the right one"...........we see enough of them around here, that the right one will eventually show up! TJ Denver CO
  2. Buy out West & ship home or road trip............midwest cars are ROTTED! I moved from Michigan to Colorado 7 years ago........i'm like a kid in a candy store out here, cuz LOTS of good cars! There are 2-1/2 620's out here on "western slope" Colorado craigslist, ONE seller. I have NOT seen them, but they look very dry, which is how many Colorado cars are............didn't start using salt in winter until about 10 years ago. Hope this link works............ https://westslope.craigslist.org/pts/d/palisade-1978-datsun/7000824725.html TJ Denver CO
  3. Custom Wheel Accessories (CWA) in CA has the largest selection of "bullet" style chrome center caps I've ever seen! Catalog gives all necessary dimensions. We just bought exactly what we needed for a period set of Indy aluminum slot mags for a Datsun 260Z! We buy wholesale........I don't know if they sell retail. Really nice people! If you talk to them, tell them TJ in Denver sent ya! https://customwheelaccessories.com/browse-our-catalog/hub-caps
  4. Nice! 😎 Grab a USA spec 1200 Haynes manual for the basics. Mechanicals will be "basic", wiring schematics will be "basic", will NOT be the same , but wiring color codes etc might be. These are easy cars, just a few "japanese" quirks like switch to ground electrics vs most other cars switch to power!
  5. Maybe these? We just got a roll of it off Amazon, was just what we were looking for to fill air flow vents on a kit car (fiberglass, so we will epoxy in place.......... https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3640&msclkid=a5c79ec9b72e1254228cc363858d9a00&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping&utm_term=1100404266839&utm_content=Ad group %231 https://www.amazon.com/TORIS-Stainless-Rodent-5-9X8-2-150X210mm/dp/B07413VR8X/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=Stainless+Steel+Wire+Mesh&qid=1571435247&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExTkgwM1E3SjA0QzdSJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTYyMzI2UjUwNU01RjY3OEFZJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxMTQzMzJDQVQ3MFdTNkYySTYmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
  6. I use 89-91 Civic Si (when I find them!), 88-91 Honda Prelude, 97-98 Prelude, 90-93 Integra in 510's, pretty easy mods to mounting ears. My 2000 Subaru Impreza seats looked like they would fit, but never tried. You can find all of these in local yards, not torn up on bolsters if you look hard & are lucky! I have a PAIR if aftermarket seats, likely from the 80's, with headrests on chrome rods into the top of seat. They look comfy but got them in a parts load, I never sat in them. Unfortunately the vinyl upholstery is torn up..........intact for patterns, but torn up! They flip forward & FLAT, which is interesting, but the real issue is shipping cuz they are bulky! If you want pics of the aftermarket seats I have, send me your TEXT or EMAIL..............sorry, I don't host & post pics like Ratsun requires! TJ
  7. From CA to CO, you're now in VA? Wow, small world, once again!! Are you working on a Datsun?
  8. Doing well, out here in Denver 7 years now! Hmmmmm........Doug in Roanoke with British cars? Do we know each other thru British or Datsun?
  9. Yikes.........that's a rusty one.......BUT almost anything can be repaired! My suggestion is that if the inner rockers are rusty, do that first, then do the floors. Floor pans on many cars are not necessarily a large part of structural rigidity. If the trans tunnel & roof etc are rigid, then welding in bracing is kinda overkill, but not a bod idea! Convertibles and body shells that lift off of a frame are the ones to be more mindful of adding a lot of welded in braces.............that's my take! TJ
  10. Have you purchased patch panels? FutFab should have OEM repop rocker panels. DO NOT BUY the Wolf Steel/Alfa Parts patch panels, cuz they are HORRIBLE! If you want cheap & don't mind excessive amounts of fitment issues, I think I have one of their full length DRIVERS SIDE rear 1/4 patch panels that I would love to get rid of cheap, well below their listed price........I will never use it!! I will take no responsibility as to how bad they are. Otherwise, buy the Australian patch panels......from "Automotive Panel Craft"! I bought a car set, have NOT used them yet, but they "look" really nice..........100% nicer than the Wolf Steel CRAP!!
  11. The old British MGB's had the same issue, everybody buys a custom fitted SCREEN from a British parts supplier. Buy a good quality piece of steel "mesh"/screen, stainless would be great cuz it wouldn't rust & would look good. Today's automotive epoxies are great...........just epoxy it to the underside of the cowl, under the slots. Good luck with the project! TJ

    521 with G35X AWD

Sorry, not good at computer crap! There is a link for the 521 G35 in his CL ad...........!! Yup, that's Bob3's Miata powered truck!! Got a ride in it just like that! He is a madman!!

    521 with G35X AWD

Yeah, Bob3 is in Colorado Springs! I got a ride in his Cactus Green 521 with the Miata drivetrain & suspension, have not been in the red 411! He LOVES spanking the Porsche drivers in vintage, cuz they all hate that 411...............but he can only run in the exhibition class, cuz the car is not vintage legal! Crazy man!

Wow........local guy, never heard about this beast!! https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/broomfield-datsun-521-pickup-with-g35/6996912043.html
  16. Hmmmmmm........the pick up tube must be for a 510 rear sump oil pan..........aren't some of these mid sump & rear sump pans, thus use a different pick up tube? TJ
  17. Wait it out, find an L20B. The L20B came out around 1975 thru 1980, most commonly in the 620 pick ups & the 1980 only 720, but also the later HL510. From 1981, the engine range changed from the Z20 (NAPZ), to the Z22, then the Z24. Bottom line, locate an engine, but ALWAYS check the engine designation on the block, cuz lots were swapped & retrofitted over the years! I've got two L20B's available, but would have to ship truck freight, which gets expensive! Good luck! TJ
  18. Fuel fouled or oil fouled? Fuel fouled, likely a carb issue like datzenmike says, but relatively easy fix, depending on what carbs you have. Oil fouled would be much worse news, but valve stem seals would be your first hope, broken piston rings would NOT!
  19. I've got a 280Z Hitachi AM FM..............PM sent! TJ
  20. Wow, killer cool! Can you SHIP these via common carrier, or only via truck freight? TJ Denver CO
  21. OR go buy a NEW custom plug & play engine harness from Wiring Specialties...........TWO power wires is all you need to wire up to a car. LOTS of guys don't mind messing with, modifying the stock SR20DET engine harness, but there are always alot of redundant wires that you will not use, can be really messy! I don't like electrical work, so the plug & play harness is a GREAT option! TJ
  22. Yes, focus on the suspension first, THEN upgrade the brakes. Do you have access to the 79-83 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX cars for parts? If so grab the front strut assemblies as opposed to using the stock 510 strut assemblies.........gives you a shorter strut, bigger vented rotors, better calipers, bigger spindle, better wheel bearings. You will need to do a coilover swap, as the 280ZX lower coil spring perch & upper coil spring "hat" is too big for the 510 strut TOWER cavity...........won't fit up in there! Upgrading to the coilovers will fix that AND give you a stiffer suspension, depending on what coil over spring RATE you choose. Hainz suggested 200 pound, so convert that to metric! You should also consider spending the money on a matching REAR coil over shock kit............quite a few USA suppliers is Ermish, T3, Ground Control etc etc. TJ
